Yesterday, on Halloween, we decided to watch a horror movie together. I wanted to see (and show my girlfriend) the very good "The Babadook" for the second time, but there was no version with a Polish voice-over anywhere, so we watched "The Nun II". My girlfriend wanted to watch it anyway, so I shrugged and gave the Conjuring universe a chance. I'm not a fan of James Wan's work, but I've heard a lot of praise for him. As for his films, I think I've only seen "Aquaman", but none of my friends or trusted reviewers have complained about it too much. I had no expectations for this production. I don't like horror movies, I watch a maximum of 2.3 a year - 3 only when I have a strong need to watch a classic. Mainly because I'm too emotionally sensitive - yes, I'm the type of person who is afraid of playing the last, successful part of "Alien" (I don't remember which one, because there have been a few of them released over the last decade - I think we're talking about this part, which is subtitled "Isolation"). I'm afraid of the atmosphere itself.
This horror film has neither terrible jump scares nor mood, nor is it disgusting or repulsive, and I did not find in it any value typical of horror cinema. Or to put it another way, maybe as a 13-year-old I would have been afraid, but I sincerely doubt it. If only it was a horror movie that was deliberately made as a silly comedy for teenagers, just like the weaker parts of "Friday the 13th" or other slashers. I don't even have to like it, I'm not a fan of the "Evil Dead" series and several other franchises in this genre, and somehow I can find some elements in them, for example the relaxation resulting from the fact that it is a casual movie that can be enjoyed during a hangover. or on Friday evening, when our brains work at slower speeds. For example, action movies, which I'm also not particularly fond of, but even when watching these cheap or fresh titles from Netflix (or other streaming services), I find something valuable in them.
In "The Nun 2", I found nothing. After finding 3 plot holes, I stopped counting them, because they were the result of simple sloppiness on the part of the screenwriter (and let's say I know what I'm talking about, at least to some extent, because I do a similar job now) and could have been fixed without any problem. Terrible scenes... I will say this, during boring moments, I read people's comments under various reviews on YT - some people liked the movie, but I found enough people complaining about the same things as me and I know it's not a coincidence. In fact, more than one person left the film during the screening (I just wanted to stop, but since Asia sometimes sacrifices herself for me when it comes to films, I have to show the same in both directions), more than one person laughed louder than me at the idiocy, illogicality and lack of coherence. Of course, we may not be the target group, but looking at it from both sides - why did we not like anything here? Neither the characters, nor the actors, nor the plot, nor scenes of murder, torture or displays of supernatural powers. Same with music and everything else. Maybe I'm unfair, but I really don't see anything good in it, let it be just a single idea that... I don't know, it was presented poorly, but I could at least praise them for their creativity... It bored me to the point that I fell asleep during the finale when the French guy showed his true face and it was loud. There will be no rating because this is not a review, but if I were to rate it... Well, it would be 3/10, maybe 4/10. But no more, it's just trash.
Wczoraj z okazji Halloween, postanowiliśmy obejrzeć wspólnie horror. Ja chciałem zobaczyć po raz drugi (a dziewczynie pokazać) bardzo dobrego "Babadook", ale nigdzie nie było wersji z polskim lektorem, więc włączyliśmy "The Nun II". Moja dziewczyna i tak chciała obejrzeć, więc wzruszyłem ramionami i dałem szansę uniwersum "Conjuring". Nie jestem fanem twórczości Jamesa Wana, ale słyszałem dużo pochwał na jego temat. Jeśli chodzi o jego filmy, to widziałem chyba tylko "Aquaman", ale jeszcze żaden ze znajomych lub zaufanych recenzentów, nie narzekał na niego zbyt mocno. Nie miałem wobec tej produkcji żadnych oczekiwań. Nie lubię horrorów, oglądam maksymalnie 2,3 rocznie - 3 tylko wtedy, gdy mam silną potrzebę obejrzenia jakiegoś klasyka. Głównie dlatego, że jestem zbyt wrażliwy emocjonalnie - tak, jestem tym typem człowieka, który boi się gry w tą ostatnią, udaną część o "Alien" (nie pamiętam która, bo w ciągu ostatniej dekady wyszło ich trochę - mowa chyba o tej części, która ma podtytuł "Isolation"). Boję się samej atmosfery.
Ten horror nie ma ani strasznych jump-scare'ów, ani nastroju, nie jest też obrzydliwy lub odpychający, nie znalazłem w nim żadnego waloru charakterystycznego dla kina grozy. Albo inaczej, może jako 13-latek bym się bał, choć szczerze w to wątpię. Żeby to chociaż był horror, który jest celowo zrobiony jako głupawa komedia dla nastolatków, tak jak słabsze części "Friday 13th", czy innych slashery. Nawet nie musi mi się podobać, nie jestem fanem serii "Evil Dead" i kilku innych franczyz z tego gatunku, a jakoś potrafię w nich znaleźć jakiekolwiek elementy, chociażby ten relaks wynikający z faktu, że to luźne kino, którym się można cieszyć podczas kaca lub w piątkowy wieczór, gdy nasze mózgi pracują na mniejszych obrotach. Jak np. kino akcji, za którym również niespecjalnie przepadam, ale nawet oglądając te tanie lub świeże tytuły od Netflixa (lub innego serwisu streamingowego), znajduję w nich cokolwiek wartościowego.
W "The Nun 2", nie znalazłem nic. Po znalezieniu 3 dziur fabularnych, przestałem już je liczyć, bo wynikały ze zwykłego niechlujstwa scenarzysty (a powiedzmy, że wiem o czym mówię, przynajmniej do pewnego stopnia, bo wykonuję podobną pracę obecnie) i można je było naprawić bez najmniejszego problemu. Straszne sceny... Powiem tak, podczas nudnych momentów, czytałem komentarze ludzi pod różnymi recenzjami na YT - niektórym film się podobał, ale znalazłem dostatecznie dużo osób marudzących na to samo, co ja i wiem, że to nie przypadek. Ba, nie jeden wyszedł z filmu w trakcie seansu (ja chciałem tylko przerwać, ale skoro Asia się dla mnie czasem poświęca z filmami, to trzeba wykazać się tym samym w 2 stronę), nie jeden śmiał się głośniej niż ja z idiotyzmów, nielogiczności i braku spójności. Oczywiście, być może nie jesteśmy grupą docelową, ale patrząc na to z 2 strony - dlaczego zatem totalnie nic nam się tu nie podobało? Ani bohaterowie, ani aktorzy, ani fabuła, ani sceny mordów, tortur lub pokazywania nadprzyrodzonych mocy. Tak samo muzyka i cała reszta. Może jestem niesprawiedliwy, ale ja naprawdę nie dostrzegam w tym nic dobrego, niech by to był chociaż jakiś pojedynczy pomysł, który... nie wiem, został źle przedstawiony, ale mógłbym chociaż pochwalić ich za kreatywność.. Znudził mnie do tego stopnia, że zasnąłem podczas finału, gdy ten Francuz pokazał swoją prawdziwą twarz i było głośno. Oceny nie będzie, bo to nie recenzja, ale gdybym miał go ocenić... No to takie 3/10., może 4/10. Ale nie więcej, to zwykła tandeta.
