After so much hesitation I succumbed to what is now a global phenomenon, music, television and even movies made in South Korea. I had come across several K-dramas but they always seemed too romantic for my taste, but since there's always a first time I didn't let anyone recommend any show so I started researching on my own about any serial I could devour in a short time on Netflix.
What anyone would do would be to search for any series on the streaming service's app but I didn't want to do it that way. So I set out to read a top Korean series I had to watch on Netflix. At first none of them surprised me but there was one that caught my interest since I read its name Man to Man. I thought it had to be some kind of LGTBIQ+ series (I was quite wrong) and started digging into its synopsis until I decided to go and download the first episode.

Después de tanto dudarlo sucumbí a lo que ahora es un fenómeno global, la música, la televisión y hasta el cine hecho en Corea del Sur. Me había topado con varios K-dramas pero siempre me parecieron demasiado románticos para mi gusto, pero como siempre hay una primera vez no deje que nadie me recomendara algún show así que comencé a investigar por mi cuenta acerca de algún seriado que pudiera devorar en corto tiempo en Netflix.
Lo que cualquier persona haría sería buscar cualquier serie en la aplicación del servicio de streaming pero yo no quería hacerlo así. Por lo que me dispuse a leer un top de series coreanas que tenía que ver en Netflix. En un principio ninguna me sorprendió pero hubo una que atrapo mi interés desde que leí su nombre Man to Man. Creí que tenía que ser un tipo de serie LGTBIQ+ (estaba bastante equivocado) y comencé a indagar acerca de su sinopsis hasta que decidí ir y descargar el primer episodio.
Man to Man (2017) is a Korean drama produced by Lee Chang Min and written by Kim Won Suk for JTBC and Netflix split into 16 episodes of about 1 an hour or so. Man to Man is about an undercover agent with special skills Kim Seol Woo (Park Hae Jin) who is hired to guard Korean movie superstar Yeo Woon Gwang (Park Sung Woong) main character of the movie Black Shadow and who will put the comedy touch to this series along with them the difficult and adorable Cha Do Ha (Kim Min Jung) female lead who calls herself as Yeo Woon Gwang's number 1 fan and who works as the artist's agent. . The story is everything and the drama grabs you from the very first moment and I loved everything from the cinematography to the stellar performances.
The series is everything I didn't think I was going to find in a Korean drama: good music, comedy, well done drama, mystery and lots of action and Man to Man manages to define itself from minute 1 as something that will catch you from the beginning. I loved the bromance that forms between the bodyguard and the artist becoming almost brothers. Agent Kim is a tough person used to defy the toughest adventures without binding feelings but this will change with the arrival of Yeo Woon Gwang in his life who is a rather capricious star. Man to Man talks about friendship, trust, sincere love and above all it talks about the fact that no matter who you are you always have feelings of some kind.
Man to Man (2017) es un drama coreano producido por Lee Chang Min y escrito por Kim Won Suk para la cadena JTBC Y Netflix dividida en 16 capítulos de más o menos 1 una hora. Man to Man trata acerca de un agente encubierto con habilidades especiales Kim Seol Woo (Park Hae Jin) que es contratado para cuidar a la súper estrella de cine Coreana Yeo Woon Gwang (Park Sung Woong) personaje principal de la película Sombra Negra y quien pondrá el toque de comedia a esta serie junto a ellos la difícil y adorable Cha Do Ha (Kim Min Jung) protagonista femenina que se autodenomina como la fan número 1 de Yeo Woon Gwang y quien trabaja como agente del artista. . La historia lo es todo y el drama te atrapa desde el primer momento y es que todo me encanto desde la fotografía hasta las actuaciones Estelares.
La serie es todo lo que yo no creía que iba encontrar en un drama coreano: Buena música, comedia, drama bien hecho, misterio y mucha acción y es que Man to Man logra definirse desde el minuto 1 como algo que te va a atrapar desde el inicio. Me encanto el bromance que se forma entre el guardaespaldas y el artista llegando a ser casi hermanos. El agente Kim es una persona dura acostumbrado a desafiar las más duras aventuras sin ligar los sentimientos pero esto cambiara con la llegada de Yeo Woon Gwang a su vida quien es una estrella bastante caprichoso. Man to Man habla sobre la amistad, la confianza, el amor sincero y por encima de todo habla de que no importa quien seas siempre tienes sentimientos de algún tipo.
Man to Man takes place in the midst of a struggle between good and evil, between values and corruption, which envelops you in an atmosphere of mystery with stellar performances from other actors like the one playing Mo Seung Jae (Yun Jung Hoon) president of Sonsang Consortium and main villain married to Song Mi Eun (Chae Jung Ahn) the great love of our star Yeo Woon Gwang's life and who is the one who hires agent Kim to protect him. The story is very witty and funny in large part also thanks to the undercover agent character of Lee Dong Hyun (Jung Man Shik).
What I found most difficult was learning the names of the characters but once you get into the plot that difficulty doesn't matter. Another thing I found interesting was that there were no sex scenes and I didn't even get to see more than 3 kissing scenes which is perhaps in contrast to the dramas we are used to. There was never any physical contact between Agent Kim and Cha Do Ha which made me see how conservative Korean society still is.
Man to Man transcurre en medio una lucha entre en el bien y el mal, entre los valores y la corrupción, que te envuelve en una atmosfera de misterio con actuaciones estelares de otros actores como el que interpreta a Mo Seung Jae (Yun Jung Hoon) presidente de Consorcio Sonsang y villano principal casado con Song Mi Eun (Chae Jung Ahn) el gran amor de la vida de nuestra estrella Yeo Woon Gwang y quien es la que contrata al agente Kim para que lo proteja. La historia es muy ocurrente y divertida en gran parte también gracias al personaje de agente encubierto de Lee Dong Hyun (Jung Man Shik).
Lo que más se me hizo difícil fue aprenderme los nombres de los personajes pero cuando te metes en la trama poco importa esa dificultad. Otra cosa que me pareció interesante fue que no hubieron escenas de sexo ni siquiera pude ver más de 3 escenas de besos lo que quizás contraste con los dramas occidentales a los que estamos acostumbrados. Nunca hubo contacto físico entre el Agente Kim y la Jefa Cha lo que me hizo ver lo conservadora que es todavía la sociedad coreana.
At the end of the series the secrets will be revealed in a pitched battle between the good guys and the villains. At times exciting and at times sad Man to Man will never bore you and will surprise you until the very end.
The ending was a pretty open one in which all the stories were closed. I would have liked something more romantic but it was enough considering the development of the plot. I applauded every moment and it left me with the typical feeling of what am I going to watch next? That I get when I finish a series that I really like. I would watch it again without a doubt and I recommend it for being a series that could be enjoyed by the whole family and if you want to have a good time and know another way of telling stories and see the world.
For me it is a 9/10 as it left me wanting to see more series and movies produced in Korea. So don't think too much and let yourself be seduced by this drama that will surely change your perception of many things. It did for me!
Al final de la serie se irán desvelando los secretos en una batalla campal entre los buenos y los villanos. Por momentos emocionantes y por otros tristes Man to Man nunca te aburrirá y te sorprenderá hasta el final.
El final fue uno bastante abierto en el cual se cerraron todas las historias. Me hubiera gustado algo más romántico pero fue suficiente tomando en cuenta el desarrollo de la trama. Aplaudí cada instante y me dejo la típica sensación de ¿y Ahora que voy a ver? Que me da cuando termino una serie que me gusta mucho. La volvería a ver sin lugar a dudas y se las recomiendo por ser una serie que podría disfrutar toda la familia y si quieren pasar un buen rato y conocer otra forma de contar historias y de ver al mundo.
Para mí es un 9/10 ya que me dejo con ganas de ver más series y películas producidas en Corea. Así que no lo pienses mucho y déjate seducir por este drama que de seguro te cambiara la percepción de muchas cosas. ¡Conmigo lo hizo!
