Here i want to share about the movie that i just watched today. The title is A Ghost Story and this movie is released in 2017.
The story started with showing a couple, Casey and Mara. There is not many characters in this movie, well its a ghost story so the story will mostly orbit around the ghost. Casey and Mara lived in normal house away from the city. Casey is a musician so he works from home to create music, so both of them almost always together all the time. In the next few scenes, it seems like Mara getting lonely live away from other people but she didnt have any other choice because Casey’s work makes him need a lot of silence and have to stay in a far away place like this.
In one morning, there is a car crash accident right in front of their house . Surprisingly, Casey was inside one of the car and the accident actually took away his life. In the morgue, after the doctor and Mara left the room, Casey suddenly rise up. But, its not Casey tho. Its the ghost of Casey. He walks in the hospital corridor with a white sheets all over him as the symbol that he’s not a human anymore. I think that its interesting that the ghost in this movie portrayed like the ghost we often see in our childhood cartoon. Its not scary at all yet it just feels like nothing, i mean like it didnt really draw our attention with how scary or whatever his body and face looks like as a ghost, i dont know how to really express that other than it give us the nothingness feeling. No one can see him because he’s in another dimension now so he just walk there to the end of the corridor. At the end of the corridor, there is a bright door that i think its a symbol if the door to the afterlife. Since he still have some remaining attachments left in the house, he cant enter the door yet. The door closes itself.
Casey walks back to his home with Mara but no one there yet at the time. It seems like Mara still in Casey’s funeral. Mara come back home from the funeral and it seems like she’s very sad and frustrated that she ate a lot of cakes till she have to throw up in the toilet. Casey can only watch Mara. Mara went out of the house and Casey look up from the window to the next house. There is another ghost in that house. They started to communicate through the window and the ghost next door was there because he wait for someone he cant remember anymore. Its seems like he’s been in there for so long. One night, Mara come back home with a guy and Casey witness all of it. It makes him angry to the point that he make the lights in the room flickering and throw some books from the shelf. Mara can only be confused with this incident. There is som much memories in the house that make it hard for Mara to keep living in the house. Mara then decided to move on with moving away to live in another place, probably in another city.
Few months went by and there is another family that living in that house. The new family has little kids. Little kids being the little kids that they are, he can see the ghost of Casey. Casey feel disturbed and upset with this new family so he started to harassing them with throwing things around the house. That family move away. There are people after people that try to live in that house but no one stay for so long because Casey kept disturbing and harassing them. The house is now being neglected and became such a run down till one day a bulldozer come to destroy the run down building. The bulldozer come to destroy Casey’s house and his ghost neighbor house. After the house is being destroyed, he decided to just give up and come back to the afterlife. The ghost gone and whats left are just a sheet on the ground that he wear all over him like what Casey’s have.
Time passes again and the land that used to be his house now become a big building. Casey can only watch people live their life. One night, maybe he feels tired or what. He decided to jump from the top of the building. Casey is already a ghost so its not like he’s gonna die again. What happened now that Casey come to the past. Its seems like he’s dozen years away before everything ever happened. Times passes again and Casey still only watch whatever happened in that land. Till one day, there come a day where Casey and Mara first come to the house. Its a mind blowing phenomenon because Casey is in time loop. Watching everything happened over and over again.
