Está serie nos narra las aventuras de Aang, un chico de 12 años que deberá aceptar su papel como el Avatar, quien debe traer equilibrio al mundo.

Avatar siempre ha sido una de mis series animadas favoritas, la he visto varias veces desde mi niñez y nunca me parece aburrida, por eso cuando su live action fue anunciado no pude evitar preocuparme, ya que anteriormente esta serie fue adaptada a una película en 2010 y fue un total desastre.

Pero a medida que presentaban el elenco y cuando salió su tráiler oficial estaba impaciente por ver cómo adaptaron su trama.

Está primera temporada de ocho episodios tuvo una inversión de 120 millones de dólares, logra adaptar muy bien el show de culto, con algunos cambios que funcionan bien y puede que otros no tanto, toma un enfoque más serio sin quitar completamente la comedia, consiguiendo también momentos muy emotivos que logran sacar lágrimas a los espectadores.

A nivel visual los efectos especiales están al nivel de una producción cinematográfica de Hollywood, logrando excelentes escenas de acción con efectos que hacen que los poderes de control de elementos se vean muy realistas, no debemos olvidar los paisajes ya que se usaron también locaciones reales para varios momentos, los vestuarios también fueron muy bien diseñados, lo que combinado con el parecido de los actores con sus personajes hacen que parezca que las versiones animadas saltaron al mundo real.

Los actores hicieron un maravilloso trabajo con sus interpretaciones, se nota que hay amor y esfuerzo en sus diálogos, desde los graciosos hasta los serios y emocionales, el protagonista quien hace de Aang logra llevar el peso de ser el principal y de impulsar toda la historia, sus compañeros Katara y Sokka son tan buenos personajes como sus contrapartes de animación, los enemigos Suko y Iroh son memorables tanto en las escenas de pelea como al expresar emociones muchísimo más complejas. Está es la esencia de La Leyenda de Aang, que enfatiza que lo importante no es el destino, sino el viaje y con quienes comparte ese viaje.

Cómo mencioné antes está es una versión un poco más seria, el show original no era nada simple a pesar de ser emitido en Nickelodeon, aquí logran hacer una propuesta sencilla pero no aburrida, vemos un clásico viaje del héroe donde el protagonista debe vencer a un cruel villano, pero está muy bien construido.

Me llamó mucho la atención como logran agregar ciertos momentos que en la serie original solo se mencionan, se puede notar desde el primer episodio, cuentan con la ventaja de que desde el final de la Leyenda de Aang hay una gran cantidad de material como libros y cómics que aportan mucho a la mitología del Avatar, lo que ayuda a que la adaptación tenga más para seleccionar a la hora de escribir los capítulos, haciendo un mundo tan increíble y cautivador como el que nos impresionó en nuestra niñez.

Sin lugar a dudas una gran serie que ha dejado conformes a los fans del material original y que ha atraído a nuevos fans a esta maravillosa historia, ahora que se han confirmado las temporadas dos y tres esperemos que mantengan la misma calidad que esta primera temporada.

This series narrates the adventures of Aang, a 12 year old boy who must accept his role as the Avatar, who must bring balance to the world.

Avatar has always been one of my favorite animated series, I have seen it several times since my childhood and I never find it boring, so when its live action was announced I couldn't help but worry, as this series was previously adapted into a movie in 2010 and it was a total disaster.

But as they presented the cast and when the official trailer came out I was impatient to see how they adapted the plot.

This first season of eight episodes had an investment of 120 million dollars, it manages to adapt the cult show very well, with some chAanges that work well and maybe others not so much, it takes a more serious approach without completely removing the comedy, also getting very emotional moments that manage to bring tears to the viewers.

On a visual level the special effects are at the level of a Hollywood film production, achieving excellent action scenes with effects that make the control powers of elements look very realistic, we must not forget the landscapes as real locations were also used for several moments, the costumes were also very well designed, which combined with the resemblance of the actors with their characters make it look like the animated versions jumped to the real world.

The actors did a wonderful job with their performances, you can tell there is love and effort in their dialogues, from the funny ones to the serious and emotional ones, the main character who plays Aang manages to carry the weight of being the main character and driving the whole story, his companions Katara and Sokka are as good characters as their animated counterparts, the enemies Suko and Iroh are memorable both in the fight scenes and in expressing much more complex emotions. This is the essence of The Legend of Aang, which emphasizes that it is not the destination that is important, but the journey and who you share that journey with.

As I mentioned before this is a slightly more serious version, the original show was not at all simple despite being aired on Nickelodeon, here they manage to make a simple but not boring proposal, we see a classic hero's journey where the protagonist must defeat a cruel villain, but it is very well constructed.

I was very impressed by how they manage to add certain moments that in the original series are only mentioned, you can notice it from the first episode, they have the advantage that since the end of the Legend of Aang there is a lot of material such as books and comics that contribute much to the mythology of Avatar, which helps the adaptation to have more to select when writing the chapters, making a world as incredible and captivating as the one that impressed us in our childhood.

Undoubtedly a great series that has left fans of the original material satisfied and has attracted new fans to this wonderful story, now that seasons two and three have been confirmed, let's hope they maintain the same quality as this first season.
