No había visto una película de superhéroes tan excelente desde End Game.
Y sí, eso es lo que pensé después de ver Blue Beetle, la más reciente película de DC y que superó por mucho mis expectativas que ya eran muy bajas después de ver tantos fracasos como the flash y shazam 2. Pero el latino levanta la frente de la compañía de cómics y le da la dignidad que se merece así como una nueva esperanza de que podamos ver más películas tan excelentes como esta.
Pero, ¿de dónde viene Blue Beetle? y ¿por qué es el favorito? Bueno, me gustaría explicarlo brevemente en unas pocas líneas. En primer lugar, ¿de dónde viene? Bueno, es un personaje creado en 1939 y que fue cambiando de propietario de derechos hasta que finalmente en 1983 DC lo compró, dándole vida con 3 personajes importantes: Dan Garret, Ted Kord y Jaime Reyes. Siendo estos dos últimos mencionados directamente como portadores del manto de Blue Beetle en la película.
En mi caso, vi por primera vez a este superhéroe Navi, en la icónica serie Young Justicie, donde interpretaba al protagonista derrotando épicamente a cientos de villanos, aunque como en la película sin desatar todo su potencial mortifero. Luego también lo vi en los jóvenes titanes así como en algunas pelis de la liga de la justicia y batman. Así que es un personaje bastante recurrente, aunque no ha tenido una película en solitario dedicada a él, pero ahora le han dado la oportunidad de brillar con esta increíble adaptación cinematográfica que es brutal.
I haven't seen such an excellent superhero movie since End Game.
And yes, that's what I thought after seeing Blue Beetle, DC's most recent movie and that exceeded by far my expectations that were already very low after seeing so many failures like the flash and shazam 2. But the latino guy lifts the comic book company's brow and gives it the dignity it deserves as well as a new hope that we can see more movies as excellent as this one.
But where did Blue Beetle come from? and why is he the favorite? Well, I would like to explain it briefly in a few lines. First of all, where did he come from? Well, he is a character created in 1939 and that was changing rights owner until finally in 1983 DC finally bought him, giving him life with 3 important characters: Dan Garret, Ted Kord and Jaime Reyes. The latter two being directly mentioned as carrying the Blue Beetle mantle in the movie.
In my case, I first saw this superhero Navi, in the iconic series Young Justicie, where he played the main character epically defeating hundreds of villains, although as in the movie without unleashing its full potential mortifero. Then I also saw him in the young titans as well as some movies of the justice league and batman. So he's a pretty recurring character, although he hasn't had a solo movie dedicated to him, but now he's been given the opportunity to shine with this incredible film adaptation that is brutal.
Esta historia comienza con un Jaime Reyes totalmente ingenuo de los problemas por los que está pasando su familia, donde para ayudarlo a llegar a la universidad tuvieron que empeñar sus almas, así que buscando trabajo termina en la compañía Kord, una empresa de tecnología y armas, quienes están en la búsqueda del escarabajo azul, una entidad alienígena con mucha energía que la industria Kord está utilizando para animar a sus propios exotrajes, capaces de hacer un ejército de un solo hombre. Jaime Reyes termina teniendo el escarabajo azul en sus manos y por un error termina activándolo donde se le agrega y comienza una nueva vida para él como uno de los más grandes superhéroes de la comunidad latina de Miami, además de enfrentar muchos peligros y hacer sacrificios para defender a los indefensos.
This story begins with a Jaime Reyes totally naive of the problems his family is going through, where to help him get to college they had to pawn their souls, so looking for a job he ends up at the Kord Company, a technology and weapons company, who are in pursuit of the blue scarab, an alien entity with a lot of energy that the Kord industry is using to animate their own exotrajes, capable of making a one man army. Jaime Reyes ends up holding the blue scarab in his hands and by a mistake ends up activating it where it is added to him and a new life begins for him as one of the greatest super heroes of Miami's Latino community, besides facing many dangers and making sacrifices to defend the defenseless.
El concepto de la película está muy bien hecho, y aunque no soy un experto en cómics de DC, siento que se apegaron mucho a la historia original, incluso se usaron los mismos nombres y casi las mismas historias. Además el toque de comedia siempre está presente en toda la película lo que le da mucha alegría y humor y sin pensarlo mucho te atrapa rápidamente.
Otra cosa que me gusta es que tiene una serie de personajes icónicos de la cultura latina, por ejemplo, el tío Rudy es nada más y nada menos que el villano principal de Chico tiburón y chica lava, una película increíble que vi mucho en mi infancia y que rayé varios discos DVD viéndola. También Jenny Kord, es la ex novia de Neymar, el sexy modelo brasileño, el padre de Jaime Reyes, fue uno de los diputados de México y también actuó en Narcos, el científico de las industrias Kord fue la voz del perrito rato en la segunda película del Gato con Botas y mamá Reyes es la que aparece como protectora de Arnold en Depredador de 1987. Así que todos estos actores tienen una historia increíble en el cine, y esa experiencia hace que la trama cobre vida.
The concept of the movie is very well done, and although I'm not an expert in DC comics, I feel that they stuck very close to the original story, even the same names were used and almost the same stories. Also the touch of comedy is always present throughout the movie which gives it a lot of joy and humor and without thinking too much it grabs you quickly.
Another thing that I like is that it has a series of iconic characters of the Latin culture, for example, Uncle Rudy is nothing more and nothing less than the main villain in Shark Boy and Lava Girl, an incredible movie that I saw a lot in my childhood and that I scratched several DVD discs watching it. Also Jenny Kord, is the ex-girlfriend of Neymar, the sexy Brazilian model, Jaime Reyes' father, was one of the deputies of Mexico and also acted in Narcos, the scientist of the industries Kord was the voice of the little dog rato in the second movie of Puss in Boots and mom Reyes is the one who appears as Arnold's protector in Predator from 1987. So all of these actors have an incredible history in film, and that experience makes the plot come alive.
Pero algo que también me atrajo de la película y que resalta a lo largo de la trama, es el dolor que dejan las guerras injustas en aquellos que crecen con ese dolor presente y latente, por ejemplo el antagonista el General Carapax, fue un niño que creció en Guatemala y cuando había muchos enfrentamientos guerrilleros entre los años 70 y 80, sufrió la pérdida de su madre a manos de los intereses egoístas de las industrias Kord. Lo que me hace pensar mucho en lo que está pasando ahora mismo en oriente medio, donde por las opiniones de unos pocos políticos egoístas y soberbios miles de personas sufren y pierden la vida cada día, y estos políticos no sufren absolutamente nada.
Ahora volviendo a la crítica de la película, es una historia increíble que vale la pena ver, sé que flash dejó a mucha gente totalmente decepcionada con DC, pero esta película puede devolverte la fe en la compañía de cómics más icónica de la historia. But something that also attracted me to the film and that stands out throughout the plot, is the pain that unjust wars leave in those who grow up with that pain present and latent, for example the antagonist General Carapax, was a child who grew up in Guatemala and when there were many guerrilla clashes between the 70s and 80s, he suffered the loss of his mother at the hands of the selfish interests of the Kord industries. Which makes me think a lot about what is happening right now in the middle east, where because of the opinions of a few selfish and proud politicians thousands of people suffer and lose their lives every day, and these politicians suffer absolutely nothing.
Now back to the movie review, it is an incredible story that is worth watching, I know that flash left many people totally disappointed with DC, but this movie can give you back your faith in the most iconic comic book company in history.
