It's been tradition for centuries that men are the only exorcist in the christianity. And that kind of remained the same over the years.
Now that we have feminism mainstream the narrative in the horror movie is changing. It is going to replace the lead role to women in many horror narrative from now on.
As we know that evil always picks on the women, kids and the weak people. This movie shows the same narrative and then makes the lead woman more powerful through pure will power against evil.
Story starts with a nun being stationed to solve some of the cases. And the vatican and the seniors watching over her are being in control over the flow of the events until the she meets the evil along the way.
Once the evil finds the nun, the story gets towards her past and her personal demons come out. She tries to stay strong and help other people along the way and often suceeds and also fails.
The more cases she solves, the more she gets closer to the solution towards her own childhood and the demon that is in chase for her soul. She realizes that she is special and that's why demon is chasing for control of her soul.
Finally she gets a case where she has to battle her own fear, her childhood with mother and the call of the evil that would be something she needs to solve.
It just shows the journey of a woman in the lands of the vatican's exorcist business and how the patriarchal traditions are being replaced is pretty much the narrative. It's not feminist on extreme side or so, and in fact its mild on that part. So we can ignore that push of narrative there.
At the end we get most of the answers to our question and we see her journey further. So it's kind of a good ending. Nothing too much horror and nothing much evil.
Is it worth watching? Sure. You can watch it once if you are into horror. There does not have much replay and the rewatch value. But it is a good movie :)
