¡Hola amigos! Hoy les traigo la reseña de una película basada en hechos reales que cuenta la vida de la pintora canadiense Maud Lewis. Esta película ya tiene algunos años, pero es la primera vez que la veo, la encuentran como Maudie: El color de la vida.

La película nos cuenta la historia de Maud, una mujer que sufre de artritis reumatoide lo que le produce dolor y deformidad en sus articulaciones desde muy joven. Al estar al cuidado de su hermano y su tía, ella se siente incapacitada por lo que decide buscar trabajo para demostrar que puede ser independiente. Así logra dar con un pescador mala onda que busca una empleada doméstica que se encargue de cuidarlo. Tras un tira y afloja por parte de estos dos, Everett decide darle una oportunidad a Maud y esta se termina instalando en su casa para comenzar el trabajo. En medio del caos reinante, de intentar conocerse y no invadirse, Maud encuentra un frasco de pintura y empieza tímidamente a pintar las paredes de la casa de Everett. Lo que empezó como un modo de comunicar cómo ve la vida esta mujer, terminó convirtiéndose en una fuente de ingresos que le dio el reconocimiento para poder demostrar que se puede ser una gran artista incluso ante las dificultades de la vida.
The film tells the story of Maud, a woman who suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, which causes pain and deformity in her joints from a very young age. Being in the care of her brother and aunt, she feels incapacitated so she decides to look for a job to prove that she can be independent. She manages to find a fisherman who is looking for a maid to take care of him. After a tug of war between the two, Everett decides to give Maud a chance and she ends up moving into his house to start work. In the midst of the chaos, trying to get to know each other and not invade each other, Maud finds a bottle of paint and timidly begins to paint the walls of Everett's house. What began as a way of communicating how this woman sees life, ended up becoming a source of income that gave her the recognition to prove that one can be a great artist even in the face of life's difficulties.

Es una historia de superación muy inspiradora, ver cómo esta mujer llevó su vida, que a pesar del dolor y las pérdidas casi siempre estuvo con una sonrisa en la cara y un pincel en la mano es muy emotivo.
It is a very inspiring story of overcoming, to see how this woman led her life, that despite the pain and losses she was almost always with a smile on her face and a paintbrush in her hand is very moving.
Ahora bien, también es una historia de amor llena de drama. Al principio entre por este lado porque ya saben que amo las historias románticas. Me desilusioné un poco porque Everett era bastante huraño y malo con Maud en muchas ocasiones, se burló de su condición e incluso llegó a golpearla una vez, pero Maud tomó el toro por los cuernos y le demostró quién lleva los pantalones en esa casa. Al final se encontraron el uno al otro en su estado de vulnerabilidad y ahí terminó naciendo el amor.
Now, it is also a love story full of drama. At first I went in on this side because you know I love romantic stories. I was a little disappointed because Everett was quite sullen and mean to Maud on many occasions, he made fun of her condition and even went so far as to hit her once, but Maud took the bull by the horns and showed him who wears the pants in that house. In the end they found each other in their vulnerable state and that's when love was born.

También hay secretos en la vida de esta artista que su familia le terminó ocultando. No tuvo una vida fácil y termine odiando mucho a su hermano y a su tía que se aprovecharon de ella todos esos años creyéndola incapaz. Me alegro que haya tomado la decisión de independizarse y que haya podido lograrlo, y mucho más haciendo algo que ella amaba. Se mantuvo pintando hasta el final, a pesar de que su artritis avanzaba día a día. Sus obras se me hacían muy sencillas pero lindas, se puede apreciar el mundo que logró crear a su manera y en ellas estaba Everett y todo lo que siempre quiso lo obtuvo.
There are also secrets in the life of this artist that her family ended up hiding from her. She did not have an easy life and ended up hating her brother and aunt who took advantage of her all those years believing her incapable. I'm glad she made the decision to become independent and that she was able to make it, and even more so doing something she loved. He kept painting until the end, even though his arthritis was progressing day by day. His works were very simple but beautiful, you can appreciate the world he managed to create in his own way and in them was Everett and everything he always wanted he got it.
Es una historia muy inspiradora que hace bien al alma conocer y admirar. Tiene su cuota de drama, pero vale absolutamente la pena verla. Así que si no lo hicieron se las recomiendo un montón. Además, cuenta con un gran elenco, de verdad se mandaron unas actuaciones impresionantes. Es una historia que nos deja un gran mensaje de superación y de que si nos lo proponemos podremos lograr cualquier cosa que queramos.
It is a very inspiring story that is good for the soul to know and admire. It has its share of drama, but it is absolutely worth watching. So if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It also has a great cast, they really gave impressive performances. It is a story that leaves us with a great message of self-improvement and that if we set our minds to it we can achieve anything we want.
