I have seen several positive publications about this movie and about James McAvoy’s excellent performance, taking into account that I consider James is very good and his movies have the quality of being different or at least I think so, I decided to take a look at this production that we can find in Prime Video and was released less than a month ago.
In a nutshell, this movie is about the Dalton family made up of Ben, Louise and their little daughter Agnes, who during their vacation in Italy meet a charismatic free-spirited family made up of Paddy, Ciara and their son Ant, with whom they feel comfortable for being the opposite of what they are.
When the vacations are over and everyone returns to their routine they are invited to spend the weekend at Paddy and Ciara’s country house, miles away from civilization and any neighbors. Going through personal problems and needing to get out of the city of London, Ben convinces Louise and they go away to spend a quiet weekend, in contact with nature and with nice and funny people. Little do they know that they will live the worst experience of their lives.
He visto varias publicaciones positivas sobre esta película y sobre la excelente actuación de James McAvoy, tomando en cuenta que considero que James es muy bueno y sus películas tienen la cualidad de ser diferentes o al menos eso creo, decidí echarle un vistazo a esta producción que podemos encontrar en Prime Video y fue estrenada hace menos de un mes.
En pocas palabras, esta película trata sobre la familia Dalton conformada por Ben, Louise y su pequeña hija Agnes, quienes durante sus vacaciones en Italia conocen a una carismática familia de espíritu libre conformada por Paddy, Ciara y su hijo Ant, con quienes se sienten cómodos por ser todo lo contrario a lo que ellos son.
Cuando acaban las vacaciones y todos vuelven a su rutina son invitados a pasar el fin de semana en la casa de campo de Paddy y Ciara, a kilómetros de la civilización y de cualquier vecino. Atravesando problemas personales y necesitando salir de la ciudad de Londres, Ben convence a Louise y se marchan a pasar un fin de semana tranquilo, en contacto con la naturaleza y con gente simpática y divertida. Sin sospechar que vivirán la peor experiencia de sus vidas.
The good thing about the movie or what I liked the most because the reviews I read were not really wrong, was the excellent performance of James McAvoy, he really does not disappoint, he has the perfect expression for this kind of movies where his character has mood or personality changes. I can say that the acting of all the actors like Mackenzie Davis in the role of Louise, Aisling Franciosi as Ciara, Scoot McNairy as Ben and the children Alix West Lefler and Dan Hough were very good, highlighting Dan in the role of Ant a child with language difficulty, abused and traumatized.
What I didn’t like is that the story seems repetitive, I didn’t see anything new, I think I already saw many movies with this theme of substitution and psychopaths. I did not feel at any time surprised by the events. Moreover, in some moments I found them absurd and made me not continue watching, it can not be that people who know they are in danger or at least suspect it are capable of returning for a stuffed doll. It is totally incomprehensible.
As well as a scene at the end of the movie where a child commits an act that should not have been allowed regardless of the degree of abuse he was subjected to. I don’t know if it’s just that I’m a softie and possibly worse things happen in reality but it was still an unpleasant scene for me personally. I prefer movies where they turn their backs on the children and the adults comment on the murders. I felt that the one who left the house is a person who in the future may be worse than the people who mistreated him.
Lo bueno de la película o lo que más me gustó porque las críticas que leí no estaban equivocadas, fue la excelente actuación de James McAvoy, realmente no decepciona, tiene la expresión perfecta para este tipo de películas donde su personaje tiene cambios de humor o personalidad. Puedo decir que la actuación de todos los actores como Mackenzie Davis en el papel de Louise, Aisling Franciosi como Ciara, Scoot McNairy como Ben y los niños Alix West Lefler y Dan Hough fueron muy buenos, destacando Dan en el papel de Ant un niño con dificultad en el lenguaje, maltratado y traumatizado.
Lo que no me gustó es que la historia me parece repetitiva, no vi nada nuevo, creo que ya vi muchas películas con este tema de la sustitución y los psicópatas. No me sentí en ningún momento sorprendida por los acontecimientos. Es más, en algunos momentos me parecieron absurdos y me hicieron querer no seguir viendo, no puede ser que personas que saben que están en peligro o al menos lo sospechan sean capaces de volver por un muñeco de peluche. Es totalmente incomprensible.
Así como una escena al final de la película donde un niño comete un acto que no debería haber sido permitido independientemente del grado de abuso al que fue sometido. No sé si es que soy muy suave y posiblemente en la realidad pasan cosas peores pero no dejó de ser una escena desagradable para mí personalmente. Prefiero las películas en las que dan la espalda a los niños y los adultos comenten los asesinatos. Sentí que el que se fue de la casa es una persona que en el futuro puede ser peor que las personas que lo maltrataron.
In conclusion, apart from the good performances, which is what kept me watching, it is not a movie I plan to see again. No matter how much controversy or how many positive reviews it has, for me it was nothing new but an accumulation of ideas taken from other movies. Maybe there are people who like it a lot and my comments about it are not usual but that’s how I feel at the moment, I’m sorry. For the record, there are few reviews in which I talk about movies that I didn’t like very much.

En conclusión aparte de las buenas actuaciones que fue lo que me mantuvo viendo, no es una película que piense volver a ver. Por mucha polémica o muchas críticas positivas que tenga, para mí no fue nada nuevo sino una acumulación de ideas tomadas de otras películas. A lo mejor hay gente a la que le gusta mucho y mis comentarios sobre ella no sean adecuados pero es lo que siento en este momento, lo siento. Que conste que son pocas las críticas en las que hablo de películas que no me han gustado mucho.
En fin, como cada uno debe crearse su propia opinión sobre las cosas y para gustos hay colores, les invito a que la vean y luego me digan que les parece si están de acuerdo conmigo o en desacuerdo, igualmente si ya la viste, puedes decirme que les ha parecido.
