I hope you are well or are trying to be well. I am in a bit of a rush. Tonight is the wedding of the daughter of a very close family friend of ours and it requires great preparations to be there and despite this, I didn't want to skip my determination here.
When I was thinking about what I could write about, I asked myself why I couldn't think of talking about a series I've watched before and loved very much.
Goblin
By the way, the site I cited as a source for the photo is like IMDb for Asian TV series, but there are also blogs about Asian culture in general. Take a look there if you want.
I remember I used to go back and watch this series a few times. Would I watch it again now? Maybe, I'm not sure, but at that time I really liked this kind of stories and dramas.
And if you remember, Korean dramas were also very popular back then. Combined with romantic and fantasy elements, which is my favourite, it was a great series for me.
Now let's come to the plot.
Plot
Goblin tells the story of Kim Shin, an immortal being who has lived for 900 years, with a sad beginning but a happy ending. Kim Shin, a former general, is cursed because of a few bad things he has done, and because of this curse, he becomes immortal and continues his existence as a goblin remaining in this world. The only way out of this curse is for a human known as the Bride of the Goblin to find him and draw the sword stuck in his heart. The story tells the tale of Kim Shin's meeting with Ji Eun-Tak, a high school student who is the Goblin's Bride, and their relationship in a romantic, funny and tragic way.
I think the most important element of the drama is that it goes far beyond an ordinary romantic story, but also handles tragedy quite well because (SPOILER) I still remember the pain Eun-Tak went through before the happy ending (/SPOILER). Kim Shin shows in detail what the concepts of life, death and fate mean to them as they are crushed under the weight of immortality.
Characters and Acting
I think the drama stands out with the development of the characters and acting performances. Gong Yoo, who plays Kim Shin (who has a very charismatic face), perfectly reflects the character's inner conflicts. As Ji Eun-Tak, Kim Go-Eun brings a ray of hope to the dark world of Goblin with her cheerful and optimistic character (just like a high schooler).
Also, Lee Dong-Wook's Angel of Death character, my favourite, adds a different comedy and excitement to the series.
The chemistry and dialogues between the characters flow naturally, which manages to connect more to the events as a viewer, at least this was the case for me. Especially the friendship and funny moments between the Goblin and the Angel of Death are among the elements that balance the heavy drama elements.
Music
The music of the series is one of the most important elements that increase its emotional impact. Especially popular songs such as ‘Stay With Me’ perfectly support the emotional load of the scenes. The music used throughout the series adds more emotion to the scenes and becomes a part of the impressive atmosphere. Personally, I still listen to and sing this song, it's quite enjoyable.
Conclusion
For me, Goblin was a drama that went beyond an ordinary love story and dealt with deep themes such as life, death and fate. Strong acting performances combined with visual aesthetics and music gave me an unforgettable series, which I have already shared with you above that I have watched this series several times. I think it is definitely a production that should not be missed for those who are interested in Korean dramas, but frankly, if you are not a new Korean drama fan, I think you have already watched this series.

Umarım iyisinizdir ya da iyi olmaya çalışıyorsunuzdur. Ben biraz telaş içerisindeyim. Bu akşam çok yakın bir aile dostumuzun kızının düğünü var ve orada olabilmek için büyük hazırlıklar gerekiyor ve buna rağmen buradaki kararlılığımı atlayıp da boş geçmek istemedim.
Ne hakkında yazabileceğimi düşünürken aklıma neden daha önce izlediğim ve çok sevdiğim bir dizi hakkında konuşmak gelmedi diye sordum kendime.
Goblin
Bu arada fotoğrafa kaynak olarak gösterdiğim site Asya dizileri için IMDb gibi bir oluşum ama aynı zamanda genel olarak Asya kültürü hakkında bloglar bulunuyor. İsterseniz oraya da bir göz atın.
Bu diziyi dönüp birkaç kere izlediğimi hatırlıyorum eskiden. Şimdi olsa yine izler miyim? Belki, emin değilim ama o zamanlarda bu tarz hikâyeleri ve dizileri çok seviyordum.
Ki hatırlarsanız eskiden Kore yapımı diziler de oldukça popülerdi. Bir de benim zevkim olan romantik ve fantastik ögeler birleşince benim için harika bir dizi oldu.

Kim Shin'i canlandıran Gong Yoo (kendisi oldukça karizmatik bir yüze sahip), karakterin içsel çatışmalarını mükemmel bir şekilde yansıtıyor. Ji Eun-Tak rolünde ise Kim Go-Eun, neşeli ve iyimser karakteriyle (tam bir liseli gibi) Goblin'in karanlık dünyasına umut ışığını getiriyor.
