Adaptations are not always what they seem, that is to say, I trust the fidelity with which they are brought to the screen. Many times book adaptations change some detail, whether it is important or not, what counts is that they do it for different reasons; the fact of cutting parts of the original work or adapting them with different approaches does not always lead to the approval of the fans. From what I have observed, it is a bit complicated to adapt a book and for its fans to be satisfied with the work of the movie, in most cases they are adaptations that do not do justice to the genius of the original work.
Looking at it another way, adapting a book takes a lot of difficulty, since, in some cases, bringing a long story to the big screen is not enough to do in the little more than an hour and a half. I don't know why, but the way the most famous movies have of capturing the life of a teenager is always to take everything to the limit and show things that an average teenager wouldn't do, at least in what I've experienced, going out to parties, getting drunk, having relationships with a lot of people or bordering on nerdy and not doing any of that.
Through My Window is a movie that, to be honest, right off the bat caught my attention since I have a weakness for the drama genre; for a moment I thought it would be a cliché movie about teenagers and that in the end it would be nothing more than entertaining, until one day a person made the incredible comment, it served as a warning, that the movie was based on a Wattpad book.
Not because it's based on a Wattpad book I'm not saying it's bad, it is, but the point is that I got to wondering: "How bad could it be? Folks, the moment the movie started I knew what I was in for for 1 hour and 56 minutes. The plot of the movie is simple, Raquel is in love with her neighbor, Ares, and she will get him to notice her; no big deal, normal teenage situation, the weird part comes when it is said that she is obsessed with Ares.
Let's say for non-descript reasons that okay, there's nothing wrong with a person being obsessed with someone, actually there is, but the way Rachel and Ares' relationship is constructed is out of the everyday mind of a teenager, or at least how I think of it. Their relationship is based on hate, sex, hate again and then love, on second thought to be the appeal of the film and the handling of the relationship borders on repetitive I don't find it motivating enough to recommend the film.
A facet that was not very explored is that of the secondary characters and I understand it, the center of the film are Raquel and Ares but a little more participation from the other characters would not be too much, they had their time on screen and their importance, some more than others, but just a little more participation would not have been too much. On the other hand we have that the film not only explores the relationship of the protagonists but also bothers even a little to let us know how the Hidalgo family (Ares' family) takes a bit of prominence in the story.
Whether or not it is a good adaptation I can't tell you directly, because I haven't bothered to read the book and, honestly, I don't think I will either, but sharing my opinion with someone else I realized that I wasn't the only one who didn't like it, apparently there are cut scenes and others, if I remember correctly. So if you guys read the book, let me know in the comments.
Speaking subjectively and seeing it only as a movie I wouldn't recommend it right off the bat, you can spend your time watching other films and you wouldn't be missing out on anything. On the other hand, if you have read the book and have not seen the movie, do it to see how well the book is adapted to the big screen. I only speak from the point of view of a person who has not read the book and did not like the movie, if you see it the risk is on you. See you next time.

Las adaptaciones no siempre son lo que parecen, es decir, me fiero a la fidelidad con la que son llevadas a la pantalla. Muchas veces las adaptaciones de libros cambian algún que otro detalle ya sea importante o no, lo que cuenta es que lo hacen por diferentes motivos; el hecho de recortar partes de la obra original o adaptarlas con enfoques distintos no siempre conlleva a la aprobación de los fanáticos. Por lo que he observado es un poco complicado adaptar un libro y que sus seguidores queden satisfechos con el trabajo de la película, en la mayoría de los casos son adaptaciones que no hacen justicia a la genialidad de la obra original.
Viéndolo de otra manera, adaptar un libro lleva una gran dificultad, puesto que, en algunos casos, llevar una extensa historia a la pantalla grande no es suficiente para hacer en lo poco más de hora y media. No sé por qué pero la forma que tienen las películas más famosas de plasmar la vida de un adolescente siempre es llevarlo todo al límite y mostrar cosas que un adolescente promedio no haría, por lo menos en lo que he vivido, salir de fiestas, emborracharse, tener relaciones con un montón de gente o rayar en lo nerd y no hacer nada de eso.
A Través de mi Ventana es una película que, siendo sincero, de buenas a primeras me llamo la atención puesto que tengo cierta debilidad por el género del drama; por un momento pensé que sería una película sobre adolescentes cliché y que al final no sería más nada aparte de entretenida, hasta que un día una persona me hace el increíble comentario, me sirvió de advertencia, que la película era basada en un libro de Wattpad.
A ver no porque esté basada de un libro de Wattpad no estoy diciendo que es mala, lo es, pero el punto es que me llegue a preguntar: “¿Qué tan malo podía ser? Amigos, en el momento que empezó la película supe qué era lo que me esperaba durante 1 hora y 56 minutos. La trama de la película es simple, Raquel está enamorada de su vecino, Ares, y conseguirá que él se fije en ella; nada del otro mundo, situación normal de adolescente, lo raro llega cuando se dice que ella está obsesionada con Ares.
Digamos por razones sin describir que está bien, no hay nada de malo que una persona esté obsesionada con alguien, en realidad sí, pero la forma en que la relación de Raquel y Ares se construye está fuera de la mente cotidiana de un adolescente, o por lo menos como lo pienso. Su relación se basa en odio, sexo, odio otra vez y luego amor, pensándolo bien para ser el atractivo de la película y que el manejo de la relación raye en lo repetitivo no me parece lo suficientemente motivante para recomendar la película.
Una faceta que no fue muy explorada es la de los personajes secundarios y lo entiendo, el centro de la película son Raquel y Ares pero un poco más de participación por parte de los demás personajes no estaría, tuvieron su tiempo en pantalla y su importancia, algunos más que otros, pero solo un poco más de participación no habría estado demás. Por otro lado tenemos que la cinta no solo explora la relación de los protagonistas sino que también se molesta tan siquiera un poco en darnos a conocer como la familia Hidalgo (Familia de Ares) toma un poco de protagonismo en la historia.
Si es o no una buena adaptación no se los puedo decir directamente, porque no me he molestado en leer el libro y, sinceramente, tampoco creo que lo haga pero compartiendo opinión con otra persona me pude dar cuenta que no fui el único al que no le gustó, al parecer hay escenas recortadas y otras demás, si no mal lo recuerdo. Así que si ustedes leyeron el libro aclárenme eso en los comentarios.
Hablando subjetivamente y viéndolo solo como una película de buenas a primeras no se las recomendaría, perfectamente pueden gastar su tiempo viendo otros filmes y no se estarían perdiendo de nada. Por otra si leyeron el libro y no han visto la película, háganlo para ver que tan bien está adaptado el libro a la pantalla grande. Yo solo hablo desde el punto de vista de una persona que no ha leído el libro y que no le gusto la película, si la ven el riesgo corre bajo su responsabilidad. Hasta la próxima.
