Satyajit Ray( 1921- 1992) was an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, author, and musician. He's extensively regarded as one of the topmost filmmakers in the history of cinema and is credited with introducing Indian cinema to the world stage. He was born in Kolkata, West Bengal, and began his career as a marketable artist before turning to moviemaking.
Ray's first film, Pather Panchali( 1955), marked the morning of the acclaimed Apu Trilogy, which also includes Aparajito( 1956) and Apur Sansar( 1959). These flicks depict the life of a poor boy named Apu in pastoral Bengal and are considered milestones in Indian cinema. Ray's other notable flicks include Jalsaghar( 1958), Charulata( 1964), and The Chess Players( 1977).
In addition to his work in film, Ray was also a fat author and illustrator. He wrote several books, including a series of operative novels featuring the character Feluda, as well as short stories, essays, and scenarios. He was also an accomplished musician and wrote the music for numerous of his flicks.
