Si, se lo que estarán pensando. Esta serie ya paso de moda y la reseño ahora pero nunca fui de seguir las tendencias y siempre las cosas en tendencia las suelo ver cuando ya pasan de estar en el ojo publico. Esto fue lo que me paso con Breaking Bad, que espero poder reseñar en otra ocasión y ahora con Dahmer.
Antes de empezar debo aclarar que esta serie, si bien no hay escenas muy explicitas en cuanto a escenas del crimen hablamos si hay alguna que otra, y, como fue basado en un hecho real, el contenido es aun mas sensible para ciertas personas así que si te afectan este tipo de historias ya de ante mano diré que no es para ti. Nunca esta demás advertir esto aunque ya es advertido en la serie que no es para cualquier estomago (y es en serio). Aclarado esto, empecemos.

Yes, I know what you are thinking. This series has gone out of style and I'm reviewing it now but I've never been one to follow trends and I always tend to watch things that are trending when they are past being in the public eye. This is what happened to me with Breaking Bad, which I hope to review another time and now with Dahmer.
Before I start I must clarify that this series, although there are not very explicit scenes as far as crime scenes are concerned, there are some, and, as it was based on a real event, the content is even more sensitive for certain people, so if you are affected by this type of stories, I will say beforehand that it is not for you. It's never too much to warn you about this, although it's already warned in the series that it's not for everyone's stomach (and I'm serious). That said, let's get started.
Argumento:
Esta mini serie, ya que consta de una solo temporada, cuenta la historia de uno de los asesinos en serie mas famoso y despiadados de la historia de los Estados Unidos. Hablo de Jeffrey Dahmer, un asesino que fue conocido por su falta de empatía para con sus victimas pero mas conocido por su sádico y macabro método para asesinar. Detrás de una mascara de hombre pacifico y atractivo a los ojos, este hombre cometió los crímenes mas horribles que te puedes imaginar.
La serie cuenta la historia desde el punto de vista de la victimas pero también, desde el punto de vista de Dahmer ya que podemos ver , las tragedias que el vivió en su infancia y como esto le fue afectando de forma catastrófica a su psique haciéndolo caer mas y mas en la oscuridad. Nos muestra todo el camino que lo llevó a ser conocido como el asesino mas macabro de Estados Unidos y nos cuenta un poco mas de la vida de algunas de sus victimas y familiares. Como por ejemplo, como vivían la tragedia, los familiares de quienes fueron cruelmente asesinados a manos de El monstruo.
Argument:
This mini-series, consisting of only one season, tells the story of one of the most famous and ruthless serial killers in the history of the United States. I'm talking about Jeffrey Dahmer, a killer who was known for his lack of empathy for his victims but more known for his sadistic and macabre method of murder. Behind a mask of a man who was peaceful and attractive to the eyes, this man committed the most horrible crimes you can imagine.
The series tells the story from the point of view of the victims, but also from Dahmer's point of view, as we can see the tragedies he lived through in his childhood and how this affected his psyche catastrophically, making him fall deeper and deeper into darkness. It shows us the path that led him to be known as the most macabre killer in the United States and tells us a little more about the lives of some of his victims and family members. For example, how the family members of those who were cruelly murdered at the hands of The Monster lived through the tragedy.

Reseña:
En líneas generales, la serie me encanto. Con esto no quiere decir que sea una fan de los asesinos en serie aunque si me llama la atención que habrá en su cabeza para cruzar esa lineal de lo que es moralmente correcto. Que les pasa por la cabeza para quitar una vida pero en este caso, hablo de la serie. Como esta armada, la estética, los actores, todo me pareció excelente.
Para empezar, la cronología de como la presentaron estuvo espectacular. Todo en perfecto orden y se va viendo como una cosa llevo a la otra hasta el desenlace. Eso es algo que te deja atrapado desde el principio. Al menos a mi, cuando vi el primer capitulo, me dieron ganas de seguir viendo y no me aburría para nada. Solo me paso algo que a muchos tambien. En un punto, la trama se vuelve lenta y agregaron cosas que para mi no eran necesarias pero una vez que ese capitulo en particular paso, todo recuperó su ritmo. Tiene tanto detalle esta serie que si, en un punto se vuelve lenta pero créanme que no tiene desperdicio. No es fácil contar toda la historia de Jefrrey en 10 episodios y creo que se logro perfectamente.
Por otro lado tenemos las interpretaciones. Evan Peters hizo un trabajo excelente y realmente me hizo sentir la perturbada mente de su personaje. Me lo creí, me hizo sumergirme y sentir nauseas en ese mar de locura que era la cabeza de Dahmer. Debo admitir que en un punto me sentí super mal, sobre todo por las victimas. Los actores que interpretaron tanto a las victimas como los familiares de estos hicieron que puedas sentir el dolor de ellos. Sentir el dolor de perder a alguien que amas. En un punto llore porque ponerse en los zapatos de ellos no es fácil y estos actores y actrices lo hicieron tan bien que hasta sentí que yo era familiar de una de las victimas de Dahmer.
La estética de la serie esta muy bien lograda. Bien de los ´80 y con ese ambiente racial de la época perfectamente plasmado que te hace sentir una impotencia increíble. Creo que esa sensación la tuvieron muchos ya que incluso podes llegar a odiar a algunos personajes mas que al mismísimo Dahmer. Créanme que eso te puede pasar viendo esta serie.
Lo que mas me gusto fue la actuación de Niecy Nash como la vecina de Dahmer. Que ejemplo de mujer y que impotencia ver su personaje como sufre sin poder hacer nada. Con una voz silenciada por justamente, el panorama racista que estaba muy fuerte en aquella época en Estados Unidos. Fue tan brillante que si, pude sentir todo lo que ella sentía y dicen por ahí que si empatizas u odias a un personaje, es porque el actor hizo un excelente trabajo.
Review:
Overall, I loved the series. This is not to say that I am a fan of serial killers, although it does call my attention to what is in their head to cross that line of what is morally correct. What goes through their head to take a life but in this case, I'm talking about the series. How it is put together, the aesthetics, the actors, everything seemed excellent to me.
To begin with, the chronology of how it was presented was spectacular. Everything in perfect order and you can see how one thing led to another until the denouement. That is something that leaves you trapped from the beginning. At least for me, when I saw the first chapter, it made me want to keep watching and I wasn't bored at all. I just went through something that happened to many people. At one point, the plot becomes slow and they added things that for me were not necessary but once that particular chapter passed, everything regained its rhythm. There is so much detail in this series that yes, at one point it does get slow but believe me it's not wasted. It's not easy to tell the whole story of Jefrrey in 10 episodes and I think it was done perfectly.
On the other hand we have the performances. Evan Peters did an excellent job and really made me feel the disturbed mind of his character. I believed it, he made me immerse myself and feel nauseous in that sea of madness that was Dahmer's head. I must admit that at one point I felt super bad, especially for the victims. The actors who played both the victims and their families made you feel their pain. Feel the pain of losing someone you love. At one point I cried because putting yourself in their shoes is not easy and these actors and actresses did it so well that I even felt like I was a family member of one of Dahmer's victims.
The aesthetics of the series is very well done. Very 80's and with that racial atmosphere of the time perfectly captured that makes you feel an incredible helplessness. I think many people had that feeling because you can even hate some characters more than Dahmer himself. Believe me, that can happen watching this series.
What I liked the most was Niecy Nash's performance as Dahmer's neighbor. What an example of a woman and what a helplessness to see her character suffer without being able to do anything. With a voice silenced by the racist landscape that was very strong at that time in the United States. It was so brilliant that yes, I could feel everything she felt and they say that if you empathize or hate a character, it is because the actor did an excellent job.

Caso real:
Bueno, como ya dije, esta serie se baso en un caso real. Muchas series/películas basadas en hechos reales cambian muchas cosas de la realidad para adaptarlo a un publico mas general pero no fue este el caso.
La serie de Dahmer, si tengo que ponerlo ne porcentaje, Fue un 99.8 % fiel a como fue realmente. Bueno, el porcentaje que falta es porque algún que otro detalle esta cambiado pero en su gran mayoría , yo que conozco de pies a cabeza el caso, fue todo exactamente igual . Cuando digo Todo hablo de : Personajes iguales a como era en la vida real (Incluso victimas) y escenografías. Literal vos veías como montaron el departamento de Dahmer y lo comparabas con una foto real y no distinguías cual era cual. Cada detalles que lo hacia un lugar lúgubre, pesado, sucio, todo estaba ahí. Incluso, las herramientas que usaba Dhamer para llevar a cabo sus asesinatos. Por otro lado, las victimas. Eso fue lo que mas me impacto. Compare fotos de las victimas reales y las de la ficción y el parecido es increíble. Acá debo resaltar que el trabajo de la producción fue impecable. Se noto el esfuerzo que le pusieron pero por el otro lado, me puse en los zapatos de los familiares. Debió ser horrible ver (Si es que lo vieron) a alguien parecido a tu hermano, hijo, padre , etc.. en una pantalla interpretando el momento exacto en que le quitaron la vida. Es como vivir junto a tu ser querido aquel momento y realmente Netflix, fue muy criticado por esto. Me sentí muy mal por eso y creí que se comerían un juicio (Los familiares e incluso el padre del propio Jeffrey lo exigieron) pero, leí por allí que no es ilegal tomar esta historia y plasmarla. Que no necesitaban el permiso de los familiares y que lo hicieron con le mayor respeto posible. Si bien, se muestran la impunidad de la época, que las victimas efectivamente son victimas y que Dhamer era un enfermo, poco y nada les gusto que Netflix tomara sus historias para publicarlas de esta forma y menos aun, que use los nombres reales de todos.
Sentí feo por esto pero, como yo y muchos mas, contribuimos a que la serie tuviera éxito. Netflix sabe que el morbo vende y no quiso perder su oportunidad.
Antes de ver la serie no sabía que no se les aviso a los familiares de las victimas y después de saberlo , si sentí un poco de culpa y decidí plasmar mi opinión que aunque esta perfectamente armada, yo creo que si debieron mínimo , poner en aviso para que el impacto de los recuerdos no fuera tan catastrófico.
Real case:
Well, as I said, this series was based on a real case. Many series/movies based on real events change many things from reality to adapt it to a more general audience but this was not the case.
The Dahmer series, if I have to put it in percentages, was 99.8% faithful to how it really was. Well, the missing percentage is because some details have been changed, but for the most part, as I know the case from head to toe, everything was exactly the same. When I say EVERYTHING I am talking about: Characters the same as in real life (even victims) and scenographies. You literally saw how they set up Dahmer's apartment and compared it to a real photo and you couldn't tell which was which. Every detail that made it a grim, heavy, dirty place, everything was there. Even the tools Dhamer used to carry out his murders. On the other hand, the victims. That was what struck me the most. I compared photos of the real victims and the fictional ones and the resemblance is incredible. Here I must emphasize that the production work was impeccable. I could see the effort they put in, but on the other hand, I put myself in the shoes of the family members. It must have been horrible to see (if they saw it) someone similar to your brother, son, father, etc... on a screen interpreting the exact moment when his life was taken. It's like living next to your loved one that moment and really Netflix, got a lot of flak for this. I felt really bad about it and I thought they would eat a lawsuit (Jeffrey's own family members and even Jeffrey's father demanded it) but, I read over there that it is not illegal to take this story and capture it. That they didn't need permission from the family members and that they did it as respectfully as possible. While, they show the impunity of the time, that the victims are indeed victims and that Dhamer was a sick man, little and nothing liked that Netflix took their stories to publish them in this way and even less, that they used everyone's real names.
I felt ugly about this but, like me and many more, we contributed to the success of the series. Netflix knows that morbidity sells and didn't want to miss their chance.
Before watching the series I did not know that the families of the victims were not warned and after knowing it, I felt a little guilt and decided to express my opinion that although it is perfectly put together, I believe that they should have at least warned them so that the impact of the memories would not be so catastrophic.Bueno, hasta acá la reseña de hoy. Cuando empecé no sabia bien como es una reseña (No me considero experta aun) y leyendo por ahí vi que un reseña es algo corto pero escribí mucho ja. En fin, me gusta escribir y volcar todas mis ideas en palabras que espero alguien pueda leer.
Mi conciencia dice que no veas la serie por respeto a las victimas pero por otro lado, esta muy buena, muy bien lograda como dije. Vivimos en una sociedad que muchas veces es doble moral y decirte que no la veas, seria muy doble moral de mi parte y no me gustar caer en esas cosas y no estoy aquí para dar clases de moral.
La recomiendo totalmente porque dentro de todo el actuar de Netflix, esta hecha con respeto y casi al cien en concordancia a como paso. Lo que me gusto es que no trato de disfrazar nada ni cambio personajes como suele hacerlo y eso es un punto a favor para verla.

Well, so much for today's review. When I started I didn't really know what a review is like (I don't consider myself an expert yet) and reading around I saw that a review is something short but I wrote a lot ha. Anyway, I like to write and put all my ideas into words that I hope someone can read.
My conscience says not to watch the series out of respect for the victims but on the other hand, it's very good, very well done as I said. We live in a society that many times is double standard and to tell you not to watch it, would be very double standard on my part and I don't like to fall into those things and I am not here to give moral classes.
I totally recommend it because within all the Netflix acting, it is made with respect and almost one hundred percent in accordance to how it happened. What I liked is that it doesn't try to disguise anything or change characters as it usually does and that's a plus point to watch it.
