Fungifriday | Mushrooms On The Mango Tree

Hi, everyone, this time I will discuss about mushrooms, there are many types of mushrooms that live in Asia, especially in Indonesia, precisely in Aceh. The word fungus comes from the Latin word fungus. Fungi (fungi) reproduce asexually which produces spores, buds, and fragmentation. Meanwhile, sexually in zygospores, ascospores, and basidiospores. Fungi (fungi) live in damp places, sea water, fresh water, acidic places and in symbiosis with algae to form lichens.

Generally, fungi are found growing in moist locations such as peat soil, and some tree trunks or rotting wood. We ourselves must have found some mushrooms growing on rotten wood, such as on mango trees. There are several types of mushrooms that can be consumed and some are poisonous.

Most saprophytic fungi secrete hydrolase enzymes on food substrates to decompose complex molecules into simple molecules so that they are easily absorbed by hyphae. In addition, hyphae can also directly absorb organic materials in a simple form released by the host.

The way of life of other fungi are doing symbiotic mutualism. Fungi that live in symbiosis, in addition to absorbing food from other organisms, also produce certain substances that are beneficial to their symbionts. The symbiotic mutualism of fungi with plants can be seen in mycorrhizae, which are fungi that live on the roots of legumes or lichens. Fungi live in a variety of environments and are associated with many organisms. Although most live on land, some fungi exist that live in water and associate with aquatic organisms. Fungi that live in water are usually parasitic or saprophytic, and most of the class Oomycetes.
