Fungi Friday - Reishi

Here are a few reishi mushrooms for this #fungifriday by @ewkaw

Look at this red beauty. This one was about a foot wide.

Here's another large example about 10 inches wide.

These are some smaller ones just starting out.

These were all growing next to a river under an oak tree.

I suspect the constant humidity from the river helped establish this healthy patch of Ganoderma lingzhi aka reishi.

Here is another species of reishi. I suspect it might be Ganoderma lucidum.

This is another example. These were found in a dark forest area that collects alot of rainwater. They look a bit more dried out as the water supply isn't constant.

The slugs really seem to love these reishi. I love reishi too, you can chop them up and boil them then soak them in vodka and combine the water and vodka to make a tincture. The tincture has many health benefits including anticancer properties and it helps lower blood pressure and help you sleep better. There are many other health benefits as well. This winter I'll try and grow some indoors from a sawdust block. Happy #fungifriday :-)
