Imagínense tener a sus hijos en casa desde diciembre hasta marzo, de vacaciones. Pues les contaré un poco sobre esta situación con mi hija Alison.
Resulta que ella comenzó el jardín infantil el año pasado, le fue muy bien en todos los sentidos gracias a Dios, este año comenzaría el pre-jardin. Además se trata de un Jardín social el cual está financiado por la alcaldía del municipio donde vivo, por lo cual existen contratos para su funcionamiento, los que se tardan todo ese tiempo en ser aprobados por el gobierno.
Dado que hasta ahora me pareció un excelente lugar para dejar a mi hija decidí esperar el tiempo estimado. Ha sido un lugar ameno y seguro para los niños, con una muy buena atención en caso de alguna emergencia o enfermedad. Además de todo le proveen a los niños el desayuno, almuerzo y merienda antes de terminar la jornada, que debo decir también es una bendición, de 7:00am a 3:00pm. Sin contar que queda solo a dos cuadras de mi casa.
Lo mejor de todo es que al tratarse de un servicio comunitario no tengo que pagar ninguna mensualidad, aunque a veces piden una que otra cosa pero como para mantener a los niños haciendo manualidades o actividades que estimulen su desarrollo, lo cual me parece bien.
En general me gusta todo de este lugar, menos el tiempo de vacaciones estimado para poder inscribir a los niños cada nuevo año. Hay muchas mamitas conocidas que prefieren pagar a una cuidadora para poder trabajar más tranquilas y mientras comienza el servicio en este jardín.
El tema es que yo no me atreví por varios motivos, lo primero es que en el trabajo me permiten tenerla conmigo, es un lugar seguro donde no manipulo nada peligroso, además de tener su compañía estoy más pendiente de ella en todo sentido. El segundo factor es el económico, tendría que dejar una buena parte de mí sueldo que vale la pena decir que no siquiera el mínimo, así que decidí esperar.
Desde mediados de diciembre Alison ha estado de vacaciones, estuvimos varios días donde su abuelita en San Juan, donde estaba muy feliz por el clima cálido, los animalitos y el parque. Además no sé por que pero allá tiende a comer mucho más que acá en esta fría ciudad.
Ahora que está en casa conmigo me acompaña a todas partes, por lo que no se aburre. Además los fines de semana vamos al parque, también a caminar o tal vez a hacer diligencias para salir un poco de la rutina de la semana. En estos días mientras juega le he estado repitiendo continuamente las vocales y los números del 1 al 3, para que al llegar al jardín ya tenga un nuevo conocimiento.
Realmente no todo ha sido malo, a pesar del largo tiempo de espera. También nos hemos enfocado en sacar de una vez todos los certificados médicos de rutina actualizados, que son los requeridos por el jardín para inscribirla. A mi me encanta pasar tiempo de calidad con ella y ella es feliz saliendo de casa ya que acá no tenemos mucho espacio para correr y jugar.
Por ahora me mantengo paciente y con la mayoría de papeles al día, mientras llega la tan esperada llamada con la fecha indicada para que mi Alison emprenda nuevamente sus estudios.

Imagine having your kids home from December through March on vacation. Well I'll tell you a little bit about this situation with my daughter Alison.
It turns out that she started kindergarten last year, she did very well in every way thank God, this year she would start pre-kindergarten. It is also a social kindergarten which is funded by the mayor's office of the municipality where I live, so there are contracts for its operation, which take all that time to be approved by the government.
Since so far I found it an excellent place to leave my daughter, I decided to wait the estimated time. It has been a pleasant and safe place for the children, with very good attention in case of an emergency or illness. In addition to everything they provide the children with breakfast, lunch and snack before the end of the day, which I must say is also a blessing, from 7:00am to 3:00pm. Not to mention that it is only two blocks from my house.
The best of all is that since it is a community service I don't have to pay any monthly fee, although sometimes they ask for one thing or another to keep the children doing crafts or activities that stimulate their development, which is fine with me.
In general I like everything about this place, except the estimated vacation time to be able to enroll the children each new year. There are many mommies I know who prefer to pay a caregiver to be able to work more quietly and while the service begins in this kindergarten.
The thing is that I did not dare for several reasons, the first is that at work I am allowed to have her with me, it is a safe place where I do not handle anything dangerous, besides having her company I am more aware of her in every way. The second factor is the economic one, I would have to leave a good part of my salary which is worth saying that not even the minimum, so I decided to wait.
Since mid-December Alison has been on vacation, we spent several days at her grandmother's house in San Juan, where she was very happy because of the warm weather, the animals and the park. I don't know why she tends to eat a lot more there than here in this cold city.
Now that she is at home with me she accompanies me everywhere, so she doesn't get bored. Also on weekends we go to the park, also for a walk or maybe to run errands to get out of the routine of the week. These days while he plays I have been repeating continuously the vowels and the numbers from 1 to 3, so that when he gets to the garden he already has a new knowledge.
It really hasn't all been bad, despite the long wait time. We have also focused on getting all the updated routine medical certificates at once, which are required by the kindergarten to enroll her. I love spending quality time with her and she is happy to get out of the house as we don't have much room to run and play here.
For now I am staying patient and keeping most of the paperwork up to date, while the long awaited call arrives with the right date for my Alison to start her studies again.
