[Eng/Spa] Getting out of the routine... Walking of the beach

Perhaps because we live on an island, many people imagine that our days are an eternal vacation, but the truth is not so. For me, going to the beach is to get out of the routine. It's a different day because we don't go there often even though it's close by.

Quizá por vivir en una isla muchos imaginan que nuestros días son unas eternas vacaciones pero la verdad no es así. Para mí ir a la playa es salir de la rutina. Es un día diferente pues no vamos con frecuencia a pesar de tenerla cerquita.

Hello friends of Motherhood, once again here sharing with my beautiful community, wishing that you are having a nice Easter with your loved ones.

For those who don't know I live in Margarita Island, known as the Pearl of the Caribbean, in fact I live a few blocks away from the beach. In fact if I wanted to I could walk there as I used to do in my adolescence and youth where adventure was part of my daily life.

We used to walk across three beaches! We would go with a big group of friends and walk from my house to Puerto Abajo which was the first beach which we would cross over big rocks and mountains enjoying the beautiful view and one of the most visited natural caves in the area.

Hola amigos de Motherhood, una vez más por aquí compartiendo con mi linda comunidad, deseando que estén pasando una linda Semana Santa con sus seres queridos.

Para los que no saben vivo en Isla Margarita, conocida como la Perla del Caribe, es más vivo a pocas cuadras de la playa. De hecho si quisiera pudiese ir caminando como solía hacerlo en los años de mi adolescencia y juventud dónde la aventura era parte de mi día a día.

Solíamos cruzar tres playas caminando! Nos íbamos un gran grupo de amigos y caminábamos desde mi casa hasta Puerto Abajo que era la primera playa la cual atravesabamos cruzando sobre grandes rocas y montañas disfrutando la hermosa vista y de una de las cuevas naturales más visitadas de la zona.

After crossing the rocks we came across Playa Parguito, super famous for being the home of national and international surfing and continuing the tour, crossing another small hill we arrived at Playa el Agua, one of the most famous and visited of our island.

Going to the beach was part of my daily routine, but as the years passed between so many occupations and daily complications what was once part of my routine now became the exception. We go very little really because we are always busy between the things of home, work and school that although we have it so close we do not enjoy it.

There is an anecdote that makes me laugh a lot and we always talk about it at home and that is that we usually watch a program called "Our house in the Caribbean " and people talk as if they were going to live in a permanent vacation where there is no work, no studies and they live in a hotel with 24 hours a day attention! Even the kids joke that they don't know the reality hehe.

Luego de cruzar las rocas nos encontrábamos con Playa Parguito, súper famosa por ser sede del Surf Nacional e Internacional y continuando el recorrido, cruzando otro pequeño cerro llegábamos a Playa el Agua, una de las más famosas y visitadas de nuestra isla.

Ir a la playa era parte de mi día a día, pero al pasar los años entre tantas ocupaciones y las complicaciones diarias lo que antes era parte de mi rutina ahora se convirtió en la excepción. Vamos muy poco realmente porque siempre estamos atareados entre las cosas de la casa, trabajo y colegio que aunque la tenemos tan cerca no disfrutamos de ella.

Hay una anécdota que me causa muchísima risa y siempre lo comentamos en casa y es que solemos ver un programa que se llama "Nuestra casa en el Caribe" y la gente habla como si fuesen a vivir en unas vacaciones permanentes dónde no existe el trabajo, ni los estudios y viviesen en un hotel con atención las 24 horas del día! Incluso los niños bromean diciendo que no saben la realidad jeje.

And the truth is that the reality is different. It's true, we live in a paradise surrounded by sea and beautiful beaches but unfortunately we don't have as much free time to enjoy them as often or as much as we would like.

For me the beach represents peace, tranquility, it's a kind of spiritual connection, it helps me to connect with myself and to breathe calmness which is something I've been needing lately and although for Matías and Miranda "Peace and Calmness" is not exactly what they think of when they talk about the beach we decided that it would be great for my health and for them to have a little fun to resume the walks by the seashore.

Y es que en verdad la realidad es otra. Es cierto, vivímos en un paraíso rodeado de mar y bellísimas playas pero lamentablemente no disponemos de tanto tiempo libre como para disfrutarlas frecuentemente o tanto como quisiéramos.

Para mí la playa representa paz, tranquilidad, es una suerte de conexión espiritual, me ayuda a conectar conmigo misma y a respirar calma que es algo que estoy necesitando mucho últimamente y aunque para Matías y Miranda "Paz y Calma" no es precisamente en lo que piensan cuando se les habla de playa decidimos que sería genial para mí salud y para que ellos se diviertan un poco retomar las caminatas a la orilla del mar.

For them these are magical and very special moments because they love the sea, jumping in the waves and playing in the sand. They come home with sand up to their ears but they don't waste a second of the visit. They arrive as exhausted as if they had run a marathon, to bathe, eat and sleep.

This time due to the start of classes we had to change the schedule because we used to go very early in the morning, because I love to see the sunrise, it is something that charges you with energy completely, seeing the sun's rays reflected on the sea is a really wonderful sight, that brightness that blinds your eyes is a sight worth seeing. In fact I enjoy it more than the sunset. It is more vibrant, more joyful, more full of energy!

Para ellos son momentos mágicos y sumamente especiales ya que aman el mar, saltar con las olas y jugar en la arena. Llegan a casa con arena hasta dentro de las orejas pero no desperdician un segundo de la visita. Llegan tan agotados como si hubiesen corrido una maratón, a bañarse, comer y dormir.

Ésta vez debido al inicio de las clases tuvimos que cambiar el horario pues antes íbamos muy temprano en la mañana, porque amo ver la salida del sol, es algo que te carga de energía por completo, ver los rayos del sol reflejarse sobre el mar es una vista realmente maravillosa, ese brillo que ciega tus ojos es un espectáculo digno de ver. De hecho lo disfruto más que la puesta de sol. Es más vibrante, más alegre,más lleno de energía!

But since the mornings are busy with classes, we decided to go in the afternoons and that's how we got ready to get out of the routine and take up this habit as a family. It is not only good for me but for all of us, besides giving us quality family moments.

Just by arriving at the beach, that delicious breeze immediately tucks you in and fills you with peace. You feel so small in front of so much grandeur when you see that immense sea in front of you that you can only thank God for life, for his blessings.

Pero como las mañanas están ocupadas con las clases pues decidimos ir en las tardes y fue así como nos preparamos para salir de la rutina y retomar éste hábito en familia. Que no sólo me hace bien a mi sino a todos, además de brindarnos momentos de calidad en familia.

Con sólo llegar a la playa esa brisa deliciosa te arropa de inmediato te llena de paz. Te sientes tan pequeñito ante tanta grandeza al ver ese mar inmenso delante de tí que sólo puedes dar gracias a Dios por la vida, por sus bendiciones.

The children immediately ran to get into the water which was FREEZING but they didn't seem to mind at all, they were playing while I took the opportunity to take some pictures, promising to come back early in the morning to document the work of the fishermen who live in Playa el Tirano which is where our tour begins, as it is the beach of the village where we live.

We let them play for a while and began the walk, filling us with that immense peace that comes with the breeze of the imposing Guayamuri, one of the emblematic hills of our island, which that day had a beautiful crown of clouds.

Los niños de inmediato corrieron a meterse al agua la cual estaba HELADA pero a ellos pareció no importarles para nada, estuvieron jugando mientras yo aproveché de tomar algunas fotos, prometiendome regresar un día muy temprano en la mañana para documentar la faena de los pescadores que hacen vida en Playa el Tirano que es donde inicia nuestro recorrido, ya que es la playa del pueblito dónde vivimos.

Los dejamos jugar un rato e iniciamos la caminata llenándonos de ésa inmensa paz que viene con la brisa del imponente Guayamuri, uno de los cerros emblemáticos de nuestra Isla que ése día lucía una hermosa corona de nubes por momentos.

While José and I are walking, they are running ahead of us, competing and taking advantage of the distance they create to swim while we catch up with them.

Really if it were up to them they would go to the beach every day, they look like little fishes playing in the sea. It is one of the activities they enjoy the most and surely if you ask them where they want to go out their answer would be "the beach"!

Mientras José y yo caminamos ellos van delante de nosotros corriendo haciendo competencias y aprovechando crear distancia para bañarse mientras nosotros los alcanzamos.

Realmente si fuese por ellos irían a diario a la playa, parecen pecesitos jugando en el mar. Es una de las actividades que más disfrutan y seguramente si les preguntan a dónde quieren salir su respuesta sería "la playa"!

One thing that took us by surprise is that during the time we were not going the sea took a lot of land from the beach and there were areas where it was really difficult to pass because the sea had uncovered many rocks and the water practically reached the road and we crossed between races and shouts of joy of the children.

For them it was really an adventure to cross between the rocks and try to pass as fast as possible to avoid being hit by the waves. They took it as a game and that is where one can appreciate the simplicity of children.

Una cosa que nos tomó por sorpresa es que en el tiempo que estuvimos sin ir el mar tomó mucho terreno de la playa y había zonas donde era realmente difícil pasar pues el mar había descubierto muchas rocas y prácticamente el agua llega al ras de la carretera y cruzamos entre carreras y gritos de algarabía de los niños.

Para ellos fue realmente una aventura cruzar entre las rocas y tratar de pasar lo más rápido posible para no ser golpeados por las olas. Lo tomaron como un juego y es ahí donde uno puede apreciar la simpleza de los niños.

Their happiness depends on such small, simple things and in the end we are the complicated ones. We have so much to learn from them. Surely if I looked at life through my children's eyes, my anxiety problems would not exist!

There was one stretch where we had to go up the road and back down because the waves were really strong and in fact in the end we couldn't complete the ride we used to do because the pass was completely taken over by the sea. So the kids played for a while longer before heading back.

Su felicidad depende de cosas tan pequeñas, tan sencillas y al final somos nosotros los complicados. Tenemos tanto que aprender de ellos. Seguramente si mirara la vida a través de los ojos de mis hijos, mis problemas de ansiedad no existirían!

Hubo un trecho en el cual tuvimos que subir a la carretera y volver a bajar porque las olas estaban realmente fuertes y de hecho al final no pudimos completar el recorrido que solíamos hacer porque el paso estaba completamente tomado por el mar. Así que los chicos jugaron un rato más antes de regresar.

One of the things they do all along the way is to pick up pebbles that their dad has to carry home where they then sort them and after a while forget them in some drawer of their dresser, but it is really an activity that they enjoy a lot when we go to the beach.

Una de las cosas que van haciendo durante todo el camino es recoger piedrecitas que su papá debe llevar hasta casa donde luego las clasifican para después de un tiempo olvidarlas en alguna gaveta de sus cómodas, pero realmente es una actividad que disfrutan mucho cuando vamos a la playa.

The truth is impossible not to leave charged with good energy and feel at peace, see the sky full of birds flying over you, the breeze that fills your lungs and ruffles your hair, feel the warm sand between your toes is one of the richest sensations, at least for me.

Enjoying the great variety of landscapes or views is definitely a blessing and every time we go to see the kids so happy I repeat to myself that we should go more often but I find it hard to be consistent because there is always something else to do. And we keep putting everything off. But it is definitely a super fun experience for them and healing for me.

La verdad es imposible no salir cargado de buena energía y sentirte en paz, ver el cielo lleno de aves que vuelan sobre tí, la brisa que llena tus pulmones y te alborota el cabello, sentir la arena calientita entre los dedos de los pies es una de las sensaciones más ricas, por lo menos para mí.

Disfrutar de la gran variedad de paisajes o vistas es definitivamente una bendición y cada vez que vamos al ver a los niños tan felices me repito que debemos ir más seguido pero me cuesta ser constante porque siempre hay algo más que hacer. Y vamos postergando todo. Pero definitivamente es una experiencia súper divertida para ellos y sanadora para mí.

It is an activity that we all enjoy as a family and from which everyone brings a wonderful benefit.

Hopefully we can get out of the routine more often and enjoy this beautiful gift of nature that we have so close to home and that does us so much good. These are wonderful moments that will remain marked in our hearts forever and that is definitely what life is all about.

Let's enjoy every day of our family, in the small details, in the everyday of life.

Es una actividad que como familia disfrutamos todos y de la que cada quien se trae un maravilloso beneficio.

Ojalá podamos salir de la rutina con más frecuencia y disfrutar de éste regalo tan hermoso de la naturaleza que tenemos tan cerquita de casa y que tanto bien nos hace. Son momentos maravillosos que quedarán marcados en nuestros corazones para siempre y de éso definitivamente se trata la vida.

Disfrutemos cada día de nuestra familia, en los pequeños detalles, en lo cotidiano de la vida.
