Spring Get's Closer!

Spring Get's Closer!

The Southern Hemisphere begins to transition from winter to spring and the weather in Melbourne, Australia is starting to warm up! The signs of spring are evident everywhere. After months of chilly mornings and overcast skies, the sun is finally beginning to emerge.

This brings with it the massive boost of energy and excitement. This change in season is eagerly welcomed by man who are ready to shake off the winter blues, shed a few extra kilos and get back to the outdoors.

For us, this means hopping on our bikes and exploring the natural beauty that surrounds our growing community.

OnYA Bike!

One of our favourite family activities during this time of year is heading out for bike rides. There's something incredibly refreshing about feeling the warm breeze on your face as you pedal through the streets and parks. You just see more and take in a lot more as well as make new friends along the way!

Soon daylight savings will be here and it brings longer daylight hours which means we can enjoy extended bike rides after work or school, making the most of the evening light.

The Natural Aussie Beauty

After being cooped up indoors during the colder months, getting outside and moving again feels amazing both physically and mentally.

Our favourite destination during these springtime bike rides is the local wetlands. These natural havens are buzzing with life as the weather warms up. But you have to be careful of the Kangaroos breading season makes the male roos a lot more hostile.

The wetlands, with their vibrant greenery, tranquil water bodies and the chorus of bird calls are the perfect backdrop for a family adventure. The kids, in particular love these outings. There's a sense of wonder as they explore the trails, spotting the variety of bird species that call the wetlands home and everytime we go they find something new!.

The sound of water gently lapping against the reeds and the sight of dragonflies darting around adds to the magical experience. There are plenty of Bees also so we need to be cautious.

Of course, one of the highlights of our wetland bike rides is the chance to see kangaroos. These iconic Australian animals are often spotted grazing in the open fields near the wetlands. Seeing a kangaroo in its natural habitat never gets old, and the kids are always thrilled to spot them.

Hopping along or resting under the shade of a gum tree or grazing in the open fields next to homes. These encounters make the rides even more special, creating lasting memories and a deep appreciation for the unique wildlife that Australia has to offer.

These bike rides are more than just an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of spring as they are also a way to stay active and healthy. After the indulgences of winter comfort food, it's time to get moving again and work off those extra kilos. Cycling is a fantastic way to exercise, combining cardio with the joy of being outdoors. It’s a low-impact workout that everyone in the family can enjoy, from the youngest to the oldest. Plus, the fun of exploring new trails and discovering hidden spots makes the exercise feel more like an adventure than a chore.
