Cumpleaños número 3 de mi hijo
Saludos Querida mamita lectora, hoy vengo a contarte la experiencia que tuve con el cumpleaños número 3 de mi bebé, debo empezar contándote que estoy recién mudada a esta ciudad y no he tenido tiempo de conocer a nadie aun, este cumpleaños venia planeándolo hace mucho, porque cada año anterior había tenido algún inconveniente cerca del cumpleaños de mi hijo y no había tenido oportunidad de celebrarle como quisiera. El primer año de mi hijo fue justo cuando empezó la pandemia, el caos de las compras nerviosas y el confinamiento. Los preparativos para este cumpleaños empezaron una semana antes, con su corte de cabello.

My son's first year was right around the time of the pandemic, the chaos of nervous shopping and confinement. Preparations for this birthday started a week before, with his haircut.
Fue un reto escoger el motivo del cumpleaños para mi hijo, puesto que el no ve televisión, ni comiquitas, solo algunos videos de Nastya o Heidi y Zidane, por esta razón me tocó escoger el motivo a mí, le enseñé algunas imágenes y le pregunté cual prefería y dijo que la del león, así que escogimos hacer la fiesta con motivo de El rey león de Disney (sé que es un poco anticuado, pero a mí me parece adorable y a él le gustó). Todo fue un poco más difícil de lo que debería haber sido ya que estamos nuevas en esta ciudad, pero mi mamá es un genio! En el poco tiempo que tiene libre se dedicó a indagar en las redes sociales, Facebook e instagram, busco cantidades de cuentas de personas que se dedican a realizar pasteles y bocaditos, leyó los comentarios que dejaban los clientes en las fotos y publicaciones de estas cuentas, y escogimos la que más nos gustó comparando buen precio y buena presentación, entre las dos escogimos el diseño de la torta que queríamos, escogimos los bocaditos (Lo que fue un tarea difícil escoger solo algunos) y pedimos una cotización.
It was a challenge to choose the theme for my son's birthday, since he doesn't watch TV or cartoons, just some videos of Nastya or Heidi and Zidane, so I had to choose the theme myself, I showed him some pictures and asked him which one he preferred and he said the lion, so we chose to do the party with Disney's The Lion King theme (I know it's a bit old fashioned, but I think it's adorable and he liked it). It was all a little harder than it should have been since we are new to this town, but my mom is a genius! In the little time she has free she spent digging through social media, Facebook and instagram, she searched for lots of accounts of people who are in the business of making cakes and bites, read the comments left by customers on the photos and posts on these accounts, and we chose the one we liked the most comparing good price and good presentation, between the two we chose the design of the cake we wanted, we chose the snacks (which was a difficult task to choose only a few) and asked for a budget.
Lastimosamente no habría invitados, pero igual quería que mi hijo tuviera toda la experiencia de una fiesta de cumpleaños, con otros niños o no, a fin de cuentas lo que realmente me importaba era que el disfrutara su día y que tuviera una fiesta de cumpleaños como las que ve en los videos de youtube, entonces venia el tema de la decoración, que a mí no se me da realmente bien, y a mi mamá tampoco, pero conseguimos en Marketplace que nos vendieran un combo con casi todo, traía el mantel, las cortinas, los globos para el arco y un bouquet con globos del motivo, como una cortesía nos armaron el arco de globos, ya solo quedaba armar todo en casa cuando lo entregaran.
Unfortunately there would be no guests, but I still wanted my son to have the whole experience of a birthday party, with other children or not, after all what really mattered to me was that he enjoyed his day and had a birthday party like the ones he sees on youtube videos, then came the issue of decoration, which I am not really good at, and neither is my mom, but we got Marketplace to sell us a combo with almost everything, it brought the tablecloth, the curtains, the balloons for the arch and a bouquet with balloons of the motif, as a courtesy they made the balloon arch for us, now we only had to assemble everything at home when they delivered it.
Entre otros preparativos, conseguimos hacer una franela para mi bebé con el motivo del rey león y el número de años que cumplía, y tuvimos la genial idea de hacer una piñata para que el pudiese experimentarlo por primera vez, la emoción de darle “palo a la piñata” y luego recoger los juguetes y caramelos.
así pues, trabajé el feriado de carnaval y pedí que me dieran ese sábado libre para poder pasar todo el día con mi bebé, lo despertamos esa mañana con los regalos en la cama y lo felicitamos por su cumpleaños número 3, hicimos video llamada con mi hermana y luego con mi papá para que lo felicitaran. Fue una tarde maravillosa, hicimos tintos de verano e incluimos un cañón de confeti al cantar cumpleaños.
Among other preparations, we managed to make a flannel for my baby with the lion king motif and his birthday, and we had the great idea of making a piñata so he could experience it for the first time, the excitement of hitting the piñata and then picking up the toys and candy.
So, I worked the carnival holiday and asked to be given that Saturday off so I could spend the whole day with my baby, we woke him up that morning with the presents in bed and congratulated him on his 3rd birthday, we made a video call with my sister and then with my dad to congratulate him. It was a wonderful afternoon, we made summer reds and included a confetti cannon as we sang birthday.
Sé que muchos piensan que una fiesta no es fiesta sin invitados, y que no es igual porque no había otros niños para que mi hijo jugara, pero a fin de cuentas debemos recordar que un cumpleaños es para el cumpleañero, y mi hijo disfruto mucho su fiesta y eso es lo que realmente importa.
I know many think that a party is not a party without guests, and that it is not the same because there were no other children for my son to play with, but at the end of the day we must remember that a birthday is for the birthday boy, and my son really enjoyed his party and that is what really matters.
