Esta semana le dijimos una vez más "Hasta luego" a la terapia ocupacional en el Hospital de Especialidades, luego de 30 sesiones, siendo 2 sesiones semanales de 30 minutos cada una.
¿Qué viene ahora? Debo esperar hasta principios de noviembre para ir al hospital a pedir cita con el fisiatra nuevamente y como de costumbre cada vez que termina un ciclo, para poder iniciar otro. El fisiatra es quien le asigna las terapias a Amelie y espero que en esta próxima visita no solo nos asignen terapia ocupacional, si no también psico-, terapia física y la más urgente, terapia de lenguaje.
¿Por qué esperar un turno en el hospital y no pagar por terapias privadas?
Actualmente costeamos terapias privadas, pero solo una de tantas que Amelie necesita, desde luego no podemos cubrir todas, a veces una es complicado. Cada terapia dependiendo del tiempo que duren que por lo general son de 30 a 60 minutos, tiene un costo entre $20 y $30, además de esto semanalmente exigen que sean mínimo 2 sesiones, lo cual es difícil de costear para cualquier persona que vive del sueldo básico de su país.
Amelie ha tenido una gran mejoría durante los casi 5 años que viene recibiendo terapia. A simple vista parecen avances bastante escasos, pocos notorios, pero para quienes hemos estado con ella desde el inicio en este proceso sabemos que son grandes. Y para los que se preguntan por cuánto tiempo ella debe recibir terapias, les diré lo mismo que me dijeron: siempre que se pueda y siempre que se vea necesario.
Ahora toca esperar nuevamente el proceso, a veces tarda, a veces no llega de manera fácil, pero si lo hemos logrado antes, está vez también lo haremos con la ayuda de Dios 🙏🏻, mucha paciencia y amor.

I have to wait until the beginning of November to go to the hospital to make an appointment with the physiatrist again and as usual every time a cycle ends, to be able to start another one. The physiatrist is the one who assigns the therapies to Amelie and I hope that in this next visit we will not only be assigned occupational therapy, but also psycho-, physical therapy and the most urgent, speech therapy.
Why wait for an appointment at the hospital and not pay for private therapies?
We currently pay for private therapies, but only one of many that Amelie needs, of course we can't cover all of them, sometimes one is complicated. Each therapy, depending on how long it lasts, which is usually between 30 and 60 minutes, costs between $20 and $30, in addition to this, weekly they require a minimum of 2 sessions, which is difficult to afford for anyone who lives on a basic salary in their country.
Amelie has had a great improvement during the almost 5 years she has been receiving therapy. At first glance it may seem like very little progress, not very noticeable, but for those of us who have been with her since the beginning of this process, we know that they are great. And for those who wonder how long she should receive therapy, I will tell you the same thing I was told: whenever possible and whenever it seems necessary.
Now it is time to wait again for the process, sometimes it takes time, sometimes it does not come easily, but if we have done it before, this time we will also do it with God's help 🙏🏻, a lot of patience and love.
