The present economy has made things difficult for everyone especially for we mother's. In my country Nigeria things has become more difficult because of the present Naira currency redesign. The new Naira currency that is supposed to replace the old one is not yet enough to cover the whole country. This has made things difficult especially for we mother's.
Mother's in Nigeria finds it difficult to buy things from the market because of the new Naira currency redesign. When you try to buy things from the market, sellers will deny you access of items that you want to buy as they will be demanding for the new Naira currency.
For me I don't have enough of the new Naira notes and I also find it difficult to take care of my children because the cost of living is very high as it depends on the new Naira currency scarcity.
A lot of mother's has been crying over the hardship caused by the new Naira notes. Most of the mother's are civil servants and have many children to take care of. But they issue is that when other mothers are complaining of the present hardship, I try my possible best to make them understand it's our duty to manage and find ways of taken care of our children.
Since things are very difficult and every mother is complaining. I have chosen not to make my children be a victim of the hardship because they are all that I have. I try my possible best to make sure that I and my children manages any available food that we have. Most children have been begging for food and other things from other opportune people because of the present hardship. This is the reason I try by all means to keep my children close to me and make them understand the present hardship in the country. I make my children see what ever thing that I bring in the house as a very big thing and we must manage it the way it's.
Today, when I and my children came back from the church, I noticed that we hard no money in the house since the new Naira notes is not yet in full circulation. I couldn't buy any food item that we are supposed to cook and eat for the day. Before I could get bothered over the issue, my last born started crying over hunger and I was touched and never wanted to allow others get involved. I checked around the house and I couldn't get any money that could have helped me buy food items.
Since I couldn't get any money in the house, I manage to get some tubers of water yam which I harvested from my little farm. I told my grown up little daughter to assist me on preparing the water yam. She agreed and decided that we grind the water yam and prepare it in our local water yam cooking method.
After I and my little daughter prepared the water yam. My mother who happens to be the grandmother to my children was also available when the food was ready. I told my little daughter to dish out the food for everyone to put hand in one trail and eat the food since it's not much. This is how we manage to eat today's food with my children.
After we finished eating the food, my last born and the older ones became happy. This is what I always wanted for my children to always be happy at all time not minding what we eat to survive as a family.
