The Russian propaganda that works for the domestic audience (Russians) confidently states that 1,600 Ukrainian tanks have been destroyed. For the majority of the Russian population, who are unaccustomed to fact-checking, this is the evidence of the Russian military success. There is only one small problem - the Armed Forces of Ukraine had about 800 tanks in operation in total (at the beginning of the war). This is not a secret information and is easily verified through the open sources. Therefore, such statements are absurd lies, obviously aimed at people who do not know how to think critically. But let’s go back to the tanks.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not hide its own losses and there is some reliable information about the tanks. Since the beginning of the warfare (February 24, 2022), 60+ units of tanks have been lost. And then the most interesting thing - the General Staff reports that the "fleet" of tanks of the Armed Forces has grown by 40%.

It sounds fantastic, but there is a logical explanation for this - a lot of enemy equipment is seized in full working order not only by soldiers, but also by territorial defense forces and even by farmers. The General Staff states that it is already possible to form a whole battalion from trophy tanks, and for this purpose additional military training has already begun.

Why have the Russian tanks become an easy prey?

The answer to this question lies in the way Russia attacks Ukraine. The occupiers did not advance on wide front lines, but through narrow worm-like corridors, moving along the roads. This allowed Russian generals to concentrate significant combat forces at certain points, but undermined the ability to deliver fuel, ammunition, food, and medicine to the convoys. These "worms" have the units of the Armed Forces, territorial defense forces, and the disloyal population.

And tanks do not go far without fuel and become an easy prey for all who can take them. Often it is not military at all. Understanding this situation, the mayors of some cities even promise and award for the captured equipment. The mayor of Chernihiv promised 250 thousand UAH for the captured tank. The videos of local farmers towing tanks on tractors have already become one of the brightest symbols of this war.

Also, the territorial defense forces "capture" tanks that are stuck in the mud and can not move. Google services helped the infantry of the Armed Forces to find the Russian tank that got stuck in the field in the village of Kholodnyi Yar. The soldiers say that this is not the first tank they have got this way.

While Russian soldiers leave the equipment in search of fuel, it is towed away by tractors and handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukrainian engineers replace the firmware of the tanks and train our soldiers to operate them. From now, these Schrödinger tanks will fight against the occupiers.

От тільки є маленька проблема – всього в Збройних Сил України на озброєнні (напередодні війни) було щось близько 800 танків. Це не є секретною інформацією й легко перевіряється за відкритими джерелами. Тобто це абсурдна брехня, очевидно розрахована на людей що не вміють критично мислити. Але повернемось до танків.

Оскільки генштаб ЗСУ не приховує власних втрат, то й по танкам є певна достовірна інформація. З початку бойових дій (24 лютого 2022) втрачено 60+ одиниць танків. А далі найцікавіше – генштаб повідомляє, що “автопарк” танків ЗСУ зріс на 40%. Звучить фантастично, але цьому є цілком логічне пояснення – багато ворожої техніки захоплюють у цілком робочому стані не лише солдати, але й сили територіальної оборони та навіть… фермери. Генштаб заявляє, що з трофейних танків вже можна сформувати цілий батальйон і для цього вже почали додатково навчати військових.

Чому російські танки стали легкою здобиччю?

Відповідь на це питання криється у способі нападу Росії на Україну. Окупанти наступали не суцільними фронтами, а вузькими коридорами-хробаками, рухаючись по дорогах. Це дозволило російським генералам концентрувати значні бойові сили в певних точках, але підірвало можливість по доставці до колон пального, боєприпасів, їжі та ліків. Тому що позаду цих “хробаків” залишаються загони ЗСУ, тероборони та нелояльне населення.

А танки без пального не їдуть і стають легкою здобиччю всіх, хто може їх забрати. Часто це зовсім не військові. Розуміючи ситуацію мери декотрих міст навіть призначають нагороду за захоплену техніку. Так мер Чернігова обіцяє 250 тис гривень за захоплений танк. А відео на яких місцеві фермери відбуксовують танки на тракторах вже стали одним з яскравих символів цієї війни.

Також сили тероборони “відловлюють” танки, що загрузли у грязюці й не можуть рухатись. Так піхотні сили ЗСУ в населеному пункті Холодний Яр знайшли за сервісами гугл російську техніку що застрягла у обробленому полі. Самі солдати кажуть що це вже не перший танк, який вони вкрали.

Поки російські танкісти залишають техніку шукаючи паливо, її відбуксовують тракторами й передають на потреби ЗСУ. Українські інженери замінюють танкам прошивку й навчають власних солдат керувати ними. Відтепер ці танки-Шрьодінгера воюватимуть проти окупантів.
