Вітаю, шановні друзі! Вперше монета пенні (однина, в множині — пенс) була викарбувана ще в 8 столітті. І аж до 1971 року для формування 1 фунту потрібно було 240 пенсів. З вказаного часу Британія перейшла на десяткову систему, тобто співвідношення стало один до сотні. 5 пенсів 2015 року нічим не примітна звичайна обігова монета. При нинішньому курсі її ціна складає близько 2.3 гривень. А ціна на українських на аукціонах складає в два рази дорожче. Попри невеликий розмір, а саме 18 мм, монета важить 3.25 г. Це обумовлено металом, адже виготовлена вона зі сталі, а поверхня покрита нікелем. Гурт з насічками.
Трішки історії. Англійські монети відомі в усьому світі. Та й використовувались вони у багатьох країнах. До 17 століття монети виготовлялись з дорогоцінних металів: золота та срібла. Аж в кінці 18 століття для виробництва використали мідь і лише через сотню років — бронзу.
Монети номіналом 5 пенсів навіть останніх десятиліть досить суттєво відрізняються в залежності року випуску. Так, з 1982 по 2008 рік монети виготовляли з мідно-нікелевого сплаву, пізніше — сталі з нікелевим покриттям. З 1982 по 1990 вони мали більший розмір, а саме, 23.59. Звичайно, є відмінності і в зовнішньому вигляді. Зовсім іншого зразка готувались монети 5 пенсів для Гібралтару, острова Мен, Ірландії, Фолклендських островів, острова Святої Єлени та інших територій. Та всі перераховані варіації монет, окрім Ірландії, мають спільну особливість — на аверсі зображений представник королівської родини.
Звичайно, що на британській монеті номіналом 5 пенсів аверс демонструє в центральній частині профіль Єлизавети 2, рік карбування та відповідні написи розміщені по колу.
На реверсі нанесено частину зображення герба, королівського офіційного символу британського монарха. До речі, саме це зображення стало дизайном 2008 року. Тут же прописом вказано номінал.
