Nerd By Northwest #279 – “The ‘Love Boat’ It Ain’t”

The glorious return of Einar Magnusson! For those who've been around since the beginning, you'd know Einar as the foul-mouthed, hard-drinking, lecherous father of Ash, and before coming to Alaska was part of Iceland's Coast Guard. Someone with that background and temperament is hardly going to be taking up a new career as an accountant, psychologist, or teacher (though to be honest I would have loved having a few teachers like that!). In this age of over-the-top political correctness, fisherman is one of the handful of occupations where such people can still fit in.
As to the name of Einar's boat, that was shamelessly taken from an episode of the TV show "Titus" dating back some 20 years ago. The scene, if I remember right, had the main character's dad being asked what he did for a living, to which he answered with a wicked smile 'booty wrangler'. I found that funnier than I probably should have, which is probably why it still stuck in my mind all these years. And yes, if I ever get a boat of my own, that name is definitely one of the top contenders. Subject to spousal approval, of course... 😉
