Este consejo no me lo dieron a mí, sino a una amiga que estaba comenzando a tocar el piano. Un amigo de ella se lo dijo después de salir de su clase muy triste porque la profesora la regañó por no haber estudiado, a lo que su amigo dijo esas palabras. Entiendo que la intención fue animarla, pero mi amiga y yo se quedamos bastante sorprendidas de que le haya dicho eso.

El mundo de la música no es fácil para nada, se necesita mucha disciplina y constancia al comienzo para poder hacer las cosas bien. Hay gente que piensa que tocar un instrumento es ponerlo y solo tocar notas cuando hay muchos años de estudio detrás. Lo mismo pasa con el canto, ya que aprender a entonar, vocalizar y respirar bien no es fácil. Incluso los músicos autodidactas estudian y ensayan con anticipación para aprender sus piezas. Hacer escalas, estudiar articulaciones, dinámicas, ritmos, afinación, etc, es muy importante.

Obviamente no somos robots, sentir la música es algo que hace que hacer música sea algo increíblemente maravilloso, sentir cada nota y cada ritmo es algo increíble. Sin embargo, detrás de cada canción ejecutada, hay horas de estudios para poder aprender la canción y que luego de aprenderla, puedas disfrutarla con todo el goce posible. Les digo por experiencia que es muy difícil disfrutar tocar una pieza cuando no te la sabes, así que considero que el estudio es el camino para que puedas sentir la música. Y no digo que no sientan la música, sino todo lo contrario. Moverse al ritmo de las notas que ejecutas, sentir esas ganas de bailar y hasta flotar mientras tocas el instrumento que te apasiona es algo indescriptible.

A los alumnos de música que he tenido tanto de instrumento como de teoría y solfeo, los cuales siempre son niños pequeños, les digo que si aman la música estudien y le dediquen tiempo a la partitura para aprenderla, ya que ser constante y determinado es una gran muestra de amor a lo que haces. Si les gusta algo sean determinados y constantes, nada se aprende de la noche a la mañana, créanme que gracias a ello verán resultados increíbles. Siempre estamos en constante aprendizaje y no se sientan mal por no saber ciertas cosas porque nadie nace aprendido, siempre se pueden conocer cosas nuevas.

This advice was not given to me, but to a friend who was starting to play the piano. A friend of hers told her after she left her class very sad because the teacher scolded her for not studying, to which her friend said those words. I understand that the intention was to encourage her, but my friend and I were quite surprised that she told him that.

The world of music is not easy at all, you need a lot of discipline and constancy at the beginning to be able to do things right. There are people who think that playing an instrument is putting it in and only playing notes when there are many years of study behind it. The same happens with singing, since learning to intone, vocalize and breathe well is not easy. Even self-taught musicians study and rehearse in advance to learn their pieces. Making scales, studying articulations, dynamics, rhythms, tuning, etc, is very important.

Obviously we are not robots, feeling the music is something that makes making music incredibly wonderful, feeling every note and every rhythm is something incredible. However, behind every song performed, there are hours of study to learn the song and that after learning it, you can enjoy it with all the enjoyment possible. I tell you from experience that it is very difficult to enjoy playing a piece when you do not know it, so I consider that study is the way for you to feel the music. And I'm not saying that you don't feel the music, but just the opposite. To move to the rhythm of the notes you play, to feel that desire to dance and even to float while you play the instrument you are passionate about is something indescribable.

To the music students that I have had both in instrument and in theory and solfege, who are always very young children, I say that if they love music they should study and take time to learn the score, because being constant and determined is a big sign of love for what you do. If you like something, be determined and constant, nothing is learned overnight, believe me, you will see incredible results because of it. We are always learning and do not feel bad for not knowing certain things because nobody is born learned, you can always know new things.
