MY POEM ON SANCTUARY ( A DREEM-WOTW CONTEST BY @SAMSMITH1971)

Hey guys, I am glad to participate in this dreem-wotw contest by @samsmith1971.

The prompt for this month is SANCTUARY.

Many words can describe the word SANCTUARY, but I choose to go with a place of refuge, a haven. So, I made a poem, the poem is borne out of my sadness and frustration because of the pitiable condition of man. But have I lost hope? Where can I find refuge? In a world of no peace, where can I call a haven? Could it be in someone?

A POEM ON SANCTUARY

Depression fills the air
Recession all through the year.
Explosions, hardship, bad news now we hear
We all live in fear
Of death that’s very near
Even if our lives are very dear
*.

Our state is one of pity
From bad to worse describes our city
Our lands are no longer pretty
Instead they are now filthy
Once, we thought we are giants
Now we know and accept we are mere ants
*

Even if I drown in the oceans of trouble
And challenges abound like stars in the skies
My soul shall view them as blessings in disguise
For it knows I shall be strengthened double
Surely, my nadir shall end up as one good story,
For the God of love is my Sanctuary
*.

The most fulfilling of paths is often hidden behind the veil
Of ignorance, irony and of futility of men.
What good shall my funny self do then
With my intellect regarded as too weak and frail?
My being shall behold and tread the path of glory
For the God of light is my Sanctuary
*.

When I finally sleep in death,
And my body lies cold, six feet in clay
To where shall I be awaken on the final day?
Not to a world full of hate, badness and dirt
But to a life of bliss shall I wake, with no need to worry
For the God of life is verily my Sanctuary
*

God is indeed my Sanctuary. I have taken refuge in the God of my salvation.

Thanks for reading. I appreciate your visit.
