I recently visited Raigad Fort, Located in Raigad district of Maharashtra State, India. This fort is situated in Sahyadri mountain ranges, With an elevation of approx 800 meters, This fort is one of the biggest fort of the Maratha Empire. It is one of the strongest fort on the Deccen plateau. It was made the capital fort of Maratha kingdom in 1674.
I surely enjoyed visiting the fort, the tourism is well maintained in the region with very minimal waste or garbage lying around. While around in the location one must visit this fort.
Raigad fort is spread approximately 1300 acres (5.26 sqkm) of mountain region.
To reach the fort there are approx 1700 stairs and takes roughly 2 hrs to reach the top. One can also skip stairs and take ropeway which reaches top in just 4 minutes.
People from around the country visit this capital fort of Maratha Empire. Especially during festivities, which are celebrated with a great passion and on a large scale. A scenic landscape view of endless mountain ranges is also visible from the fort.
Best time to visit is between november to february.
