Cebu is well-known for its tourist attractions as well as its white beaches. One of them is from the island of Bantayan. Bantayan has fine and white sand, crystal water, and a tranquil atmosphere, but it also has a hidden gem that you must discover.
BAIGAD LAGOON
Baigad Lagoon (as locals say), also known as Balibid Lagoon, is a lagoon on Bantayan Island, Cebu, located along Baigad Road in Santa Fe. It's about a 15-minute drive from Santa Fe Port. You can either bring your own motorcycle or rent one to get there. If it is high tide, you can get there by renting a boat from the port, which has varying rates. As of right now, the roads leading to the lagoon are closed due to the fact that it is on private property, and the only way to get there is by renting a boat. Locals refer to it as Baigad Lagoon, but some refer to it as Balibid Lagoon because it falls on the border of Baigad and Balibid.
There are no resorts or other forms of accommodation within the parameter, day use is the only option. You are welcome to bring food and beverages and have a picnic there. You can also bring a tent if you want to take a break from having a good time for a while. Fresh air, cold water, and peaceful surroundings make this a wonderful place to relax.

The Place
Don't forget to apply sunscreen and to bring sunglasses.
We visited there twice, in June and July of 2021. The beauty of the location astounded us. You will be surrounded by crystal clear water and fine sands. The lagoon is made up of both saltwater and freshwater and is surrounded by a dense forest. We discovered this place thru Facebook and decided to go even though we didn't know how. We simply followed the directions provided by Google Maps and asked with the locals. The entrance fee is only 20 pesos.
The wind can be strong at times, resulting in an outflowing current that makes swimming in the water unsafe. However, if the water is calm, you will never regret going there. I'm at a loss for words to describe how amazing this place is.
On our third attempt to visit the location in November 2021, we were unable to gain entry because, according to locals, the owner of the private property is no longer allowing anyone to pass. So the simplest way to get there is to rent a boat, or you can include it in your island hopping if you are going to Virgin Island and Hilantagaan Island, which are just nearby. As of now, I have no idea if the owner allows people to pass through to go to the lagoon, but you can try if you want to go! 😊 The beauty of the location was adequately captured in our photographs. Now that the location has become well-known, we hope that those who visit it will respect the environment by leaving it in its natural state. After all, we'll be returning to this place whenever we visit Bantayan. It gives you a lot of good vibes and is a peaceful place away from the city. ❤️
