Spreading Hive love on Seafield beach in Scotland

Hello Hello Hivians

Today (well it was actually Saturday) we are going for a walk all over Seafield beach in Kirkcaldy.

It might be the first time that some of you will experience the Scottish phenomenon of haar. More on that when we encounter it!

In the meantime though, back to our walk! So we started at the Teal Burn and I was amazed how the weather has changed the course of this stream of water and now it has created a mini reservoir at the top of the beach that the young seagulls enjoy!

The tide was out and I was not sure if it had turned or not, time would tell once we got on the beach.

You can just see the edge of the Teal burn as it hits the sea on the top left of this picture.

The beach is actually part of the Fife coastal path so there is a great path up above the beach and in the grass dunes. We were going to go through some wasteland to reach the jump down that I wanted to take to get onto the beach.

At this time of year though it is a great place to walk as you can pick a delicious and natural breakfast!

I mean just look at these...

Yes they were as juicy as tasty as they looked!

It gave us a wee natural energy boost and off we went.

No sooner had we started when Mrs T spotted this wee beauty ....

A Peacock butterfly and it was gorgeous. I tell you nature is quite wonderful. I normally never get butterflies on film but this one flew down and waited long enough for me to capture him before flying away again.

We followed the butterfly down to the beach and it was me now who was snapping pictures left right and centre!

The weather was so nice that I started to have some fun with my foot!

Now some of you who read my post think I may I have a problem with Hive and that I love negativity.

How far from the truth is that!

I love Hive, I mean look at me on a Saturday morning writing this on a fluffing beach!

Yes I love Hive, it is some of the people and the antics that go on that I was ranting at. I mean us plebs get told do this that and the other, meanwhile top witnesses vote their own posts 100% hmm enough said....

Here we go, I love Hive!

I wrote INLEO about thirty minutes before I wrote HIVE

You might notice the difference in the weather.

This is the phenomenon that we call haar

BEFORE HAAR

and now ....

AFTER HAAR

What the fluff is haar?

A cold fog or mist that comes in from the North Sea in Scotland and the North East of England.

When we started our walk it was tshirt weather but then the haar rolled in and it got a wee bit chilly.

It didn't stop the dogs having fun.

It was hard to see them, I think she was a dog walker as she let the pups do their business before she let them off their leads...

The good thing was that the sun was up there, trying to shine bright!

You can see the golden orbs reflection in the rock pool water.

Part of the joy going to the beach at low tide apart from looking into the rock pools is seeing if any interesting pottery shards or mermaid tears have got stuck in the rocks.

Have you heard of mermaid tears?

Here in Scottish folklore we call the sea glass that is washed up on beaches as mermaid tears.

Today though we were really after pottery shards and I would say this was the best find of the day...

It was a beauty and the sun was winning!

But enough with this, we are now on the mission for Mrs T...

It was lunch time, I had brought us a sandwich and a chittery bite so we spied a suitable bench!

Lunch with a view!

Then it was more beachcombing before heading home for tea!

There are picnic tables up top in the grassy area ..

.. but I prefer sitting on the beach!

So long Seafield beach see you soon!

This is also a post to participate in the #wednesdaywalk initiative from the wonderful @tattoodjay

Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!
