Hello everyone. Today I continue to write about a famous church in Phu Yen. This is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Vietnam. It was built in 1892. The cathedral attracts visitors with its bold appearance of European Gothic architecture - a style quite famous all over the world.
Mang Lang Church is located in An Thach commune, Tuy An District, Phu Yen Province, about 35km from Tuy Hoa city center. The whole church is covered with a gray-green color that is very harmonious with the green of the fields located around the church.
The around of the church are about 5000 square meters built in Gothic architecture. The pinnacle of Mang Lang Church is two bell towers on both sides. In the middle is the cross - the symbol of the sanctuary. Surrounding the church façade are dome-shaped entrances that look like bamboo shoots. The imprint of Gothic in one of its oldest church buildings is still evident in the openings that open to the two naves in the center of the sanctuary. However, the strange Mang Lang Church is not too prominent and makes a strong impression from each line. The colors and architecture are suitable for the small area of the church.
It has existed for hundreds of years, going through many ups and downs. But the cathedral still retains its ancient beauty in Gothic architecture. Mang Lang Church became an attractive location and an ideal destination for Phu Yen tourist land. This is the first place to keep the national language books of our country. This is the catechism of the eight-day sermon of Father Dac Lo, who gave birth to the national language in Vietnam.
This is also the oldest church in the country, so it preserves a lot of cultural values of our country from ancient times to the present. Currently, the church is a place of pilgrimage on the occasion of Blessed Andrew Phu Yen, as it is the birthplace of ivory.
