Hail to the Hive!
So today we headed off back along the last bit of familiar canal that we had traveled down a month ago.
Just ahead lay Braunston tunnel. We've been through it before and decided we'd stay the night this side and tackle it first thing in the moring or at the very least the crack of 10am as we ain't in any hurry.
Lovely morning for it too.
As soon as we hit the other side we knew we'd have a bunch of locks to negotiate. @millycf1976 was ready with muscles flexing.
No the pub was closed damn it.
Luckily we were headed in the same direction at the same time as a lovely couple from ireland so we could go through the locks together as they could accommodate 2 boats at a time.
So the guys chatted and drove while the ladies did all the hard work on the locks. Ok I did get off and help too, no honest I did!
Doesn't look like hard work to me sat on the locks chatting to each other.
And then with the locks all finished we chug chug chugged very clowly past all the moored boats in Braunston.
They do a lot of welding, painting and all around servicing of boats around here.
And I do love all the old signage. I am a sucker for this kind of nostalgia.
These two little beauties have seen better days but with a little love could be restored into something quite special i think.
This is the junction we were at a month ago. To the left is where we started back up to Lichfield where we picked up the boat in March.
To the right, where we just cam from today.
So we are now in new territory.
Already looking very promising.
Now as much as I'd like to go further today this is looking very enticing and i think as it's now getting to 4pm it's not gonna get better than this.
So eyes peeled for a mooring spot.
Oh yes!
Lovely.
This will do very nicely indeed....
