Weekend Trip with Cousins to Mountains

Hi everyone This is your friend Pulkit back after a long time.
Last month I visited Uttarakhand with my family for a weekend trip.

The place is called Almora, which is a cantonment area in the Kumaon region of Uttrakhand.

Enroute Almora

The town was established in 1568 A.D. by Balo Kalyan Chand at an elevation of approx 1650 meters from sea level giving a mesmerizing view of Snow capped Himalayan Range.

The area where we stayed was named after a very famous temple called KASAR DEVI around 10 km from Almora town. The place is very peaceful and has a lot of cafes and options to trek.

How to Reach

Almora is around 390 km from Delhi. One can board a train from Delhi to Kathgodam and then hire a taxi from there to Almora
Another way is to take a night-long Bus from Anand Vihar Bus terminal in Delhi to Almora.

Katarmal Temple

30 km from Almora, there is a place called Katarmal, famous for The Sun Temple. It was constructed by Katyuri Kings in the 9th century.

KATARMAL SUN TEMPLE

There is a cluster of more than 40 small and big temples.

The Main temple is dedicated to Sun which was constructed with so much accuracy that on certain days of the Year, the rays of the sun Illuminate the Idol of the main temple after crossing a small hole in the wall.

The view from the temple is very awesome, you can see the whole of Almora town from Katarmal.

Chitai Golu Devta Temple

This temple is unique in every sense. You will see a lot of bells and letters tied together on the railings of the premises.

The people believe that if you wish for something and write it on paper and tie it with a bell, your wish will come true.

This Temple is 10 km away from Almora and even the Judges of the respected Supreme Court visited there before a big hearing.

Kasar Devi Temple
Almora is famous for its natural beauty and Temples. One of the most famous temples is Kasar Devi. The construction of this temple is dated around the **2nd century.

Positioned on Van Allen Belt, this place is very famous for Meditation. The surrounding region of the temple has a strong Geomagnetic field due to a gap in the cosmic rings similar to that of Stonehenge in the Uk and Machu Pichu in Peru.

You can also visit the Almora Zoo.
The main Market of Almora is known as Lala Bazar, which is the Heritage Market of the town.

The shops and the construction will take you back to the 60-70 years.

There are a lot of places to visit nearby Almora. You need around 10 days minimum to cover the whole area.
