This ancient city, whose name we have not heard of, is actually the meeting point of the sea and the ancient city. I'm talking about the ancient city of Phaselis. I can say that it is not a city that is very well known by its name. But when you come here, I am sure you will be astonished by the view you see. Now let's start visiting the city of Phaselis together.

Bugün sizleri Akdeniz kıyılarında yer alan, çok eski bir tarihe ev sahipliği yapmış , antik bir kentten bahsetmek istiyorum. Çok fazla ismini duymadığımız bu antik kentimiz, aslında deniz ile antik kenttin buluşma noktasıdır. Phaselis antik kentten bahsediyorum. İsmiyle çok fazla tanınan bir kent olmadığını söyleyebilirim. Ama buraya geldiğinizde gördüğünüz manzara karşısında, hayretler içinde kalacağınıza eminim. Şimdi Phaselis kenti birlikte gezmeye başlayalım.
In order to come to the ancient city of Phaselis, you need to travel from Antalya city center to Kemer district. After passing Kemer district, after 1 km more from Çamyuva signboard, follow the signs from the road and turn left, and you will reach Phaselis Ancient City. In other words, it is approximately 55 km from Antalya city center. After an hour and a half journey from Antalya Airport, you can enter the ancient city of Phaselis.
Phaselis Antik kente gelebilmek için, Antalya şehir merkezinden Kemer ilçesine doğru yol almasınız. Kemer ilçesini geçtikten sonra Çamyuva tabelasından 1 km daha gittikten sonra yoldan tabelaları takip ederek, sola döndüğünüzde Phaselis Antik kente ulaşmış, olursunuz. Yani Antalya şehir merkezinden yaklaşık 55 km uzaklıktadır. Antalya Havalimanından da bir buçuk saat yolculuk sonunda Phaselis antik kente giriş yapabilirsiniz.
You pay 70 TL per vehicle as the entrance fee to the ancient city of Phaselis. The entrance fee for museum card holders is 60 TL. In this price schedule, which has been determined by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, no fee is charged to the relatives of the disabled and martyr families. I can say that Phaselis is one of the most beautiful ancient cities to visit between Kemer and Kaş.
Phaselis Antik kente giriş ücreti olarak araç başına 70 TL para ödüyorsunuz. Müze kartı olanlar için giriş ücreti 60 TL olarak belirlenmiş. Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığının belirlemiş olduğunu bu fiyat tarifesinde, engelli ve şehit ailelerinin yakınlarından herhangi bir ücret talep edilmiyor. Phaselis, Kemer ve Kaş arasında gezilecek en güzel antik kentlerden biri olduğunu söyleyebilirim.
When you enter the city by car, you can leave your car in the parking lot near where you can swim and start touring the city. The ancient city of Phaselis is a commercial city with three ports, established on a very large area. I first started to tour the city from its nature. You see a sea water at the end of the dirt roads built through the pine trees. I also came across tree species in nature that I had never seen before. In some parts of the dirt road I walked, there were large and small stones covered with large and small stones scattered on the road. The trunks of some trees had been dislodged and hung over the dirt road.
Kentte araçla giriş yaptığınızda, aracınızı denize girebileceğiniz yakın bir yerde otoparka bırakarak, kenti gezmeye başlayabilirsiniz. Phaselis Antik kenti oldukça geniş bir alanda kurulmuş olan, üç limanlı bir ticaret kentidir. Kenti gezmeye ilk olarak doğasından başladım. Çam ağaçlarının arasından yapılan topraklı yolların sonunda bir deniz suyunu görüyorsunuz. Doğasında daha önce hiç görmediğim ağaç türlerine de rastladım. Yürüdüğüm toprak yolun bazı bölümlerinde irili ufaklı taş parçacıklarıyla kaplı yola serpilmiş beyaz büyük taşlar yer alıyordu. Bazı ağaçların gövdeleri yerinden ayrılmış toprak yola sarkmıştı.
There are many spots where you can swim in the city. I can say that I was amazed by the view of the parts where there are too many sea cliffs. It is also possible to see some of the building stones that have preserved their existence until today, right next to the sea. I can say that the fact that large white stones among the pine and green trees are scattered on the roads adds a different pleasure to the beauty of the landscape.
Kentte denize girebileceğiniz bir çok nokta var. Deniz kayalıklarının çok fazla olduğu bölümlerin, manzarasına hayran kaldım diyebilirim. Denizin hemen yanın da günümüze kadar varlığını korumuş bazı yapı taşlarını da görmeniz mümkündür. Çam ve yeşil Ağaçların arasında bulunan beyaz ayrı ayrı büyük taşların da yollara serpilmiş olması manzaranın güzelliğine ayrı bir keyif katıyor, diyebilirim.
If we take a look at a brief history of Phaselis City; Romans, Byzantines and finally Seljuks lived here. I can say that the ancient theatre, aqueducts, marketplace and columned streets from the Roman period reveal the history of the city. Aqueducts are among the first historical artifacts you encounter when you enter Phaselis. Although some parts of these aqueducts, which belonged to the Romans, have been damaged until today, they are still intact and help meet the water needs of the people living here. The aqueduct, which was built to carry water from the source coming from the high mountains to the city, is located in the middle of the city with a length of about 500 meters.
Phaselis Kentinin kısa bir tarihine göz gezdirecek olursak; buralarda, Romalılar, Bizanslılar ve son olarak da Selçuklular yaşamışlardır. Roma dönemine ait antik tiyatro, su kemerleri, pazaryeri ve sütunlu caddeler, şehrin tarihini gözler önüne seriyor, diyebilirim. Su kemerleri, Phaselis' e girdiğinizde karşınıza çıkan ilk tarihi eserler arasında yer alıyor. Romalılara ait olan bu su kemerleri, günümüze kadar bazı bölümleri hasar görmüş olsa da yine de sağlam durmuş ve burada yaşayanların su ihtiyaçlarını karşılamaya yardımcı olmuş bir yapıdır. Yüksek dağlardan gelen kaynaktan şehre su taşımak için inşa edilen su kemeri, yaklaşık 500 metre uzunluğunda şehrin tam ortasında yer alıyor.
I told you there are three ports in the city. The people of Phaselis here have made a living from maritime trade all their lives. Thanks to these three ports located on the Mediterranean coast, they became increasingly rich. Due to their location, they showed great developments in the Mediterranean trade and made it possible for the city to be known. In the region, which is built on a large peninsula, there is a North port, a South port and a military port between these ports. In these sheltered harbors, no matter where the wind blows, it could not damage any ships or boats.
Şehirde üç liman olduğunu söylemiştim. Burası Phaselis halkı, tüm hayatları boyunca deniz ticaretinden geçimini sağlamışlar. Akdeniz kıyısında bulunan bu üç liman sayesinde giderek zenginleşmişler. Bulundukları konum itibariyle, Akdeniz ticaretinde büyük gelişmeler göstererek şehrin tanınmasına da olanak sağlamışlar. Büyük bir yarımadaya kurulu olan bölgede Kuzey limanı, Güney Limanı ve bu limanların arasında da Askeri liman bulunmaktadır. Korunaklı olan bu limanlarda rüzgar nereden eserse essin, hiçbir gemi ve kayıklara zarar veremiyormuş.
South Harbor is open compared to other ports and its beach is sandy. I would say it is among the longest ports in Phaselis. Due to the long coastline and shallow sea, this region is more preferred by the people. I can say that the pine trees, located a little behind the coast, add a different beauty to this region. Those who want to swim in the sea put their towels, tables and chairs in the shade of these pine trees.
Güney Limanı, diğer limanlara göre önü açık ve plajı da kumdur. Phaselis'teki en uzun limanlar arasın olduğunu söyleyebilirim. Sahil kenarının uzun olması ve denizin sığ olması nedeniyle bu bölge halk tarafından daha çok tercih ediliyor. Sahil kenarının az gerisinde bulunan çam ağaçları, bu bölgeye ayrı bir güzellik katıyor diyebilirim. The Military Harbor is located in the middle of the city, at the beginning of the colonnaded street and at the bottom of the aqueduct. Since this place is behind the mountain, it is shallow and waveless. It is one of my favorite ports. The reason is that it is quieter and calmer, as well as the appearance of long rock stones in some parts of the sea and the coastline, and the colorful stones shining at the bottom of the sea make this place look beautiful.
Askeri Liman, şehrin tam ortasında, sütunlu caddenin başında ve su kemerinin alt kısmında yer alıyor. Burası dağın arkasında kaldığı için sığ ve dalgasızdır. Benim en çok hoşuma giden limanlardan biridir. Nedeni, daha sessiz ve sakin olması ayrıca, denizin ve kıyı şeridinin bazı bölümlerinde uzun kaya taşlarının görüntüsü ve denizin dibinde parlayan renkli taşları da bulunması burayı güzel gösteriyor.
Let me also talk about the colonnaded street, which acts as a kind of bridge between the South port and the Military port. While walking on this building block, which is located between the two ports of the city, you come across ruins from the Roman period on its right and left. Among these ruins is the Roman Bath. It is very similar to the Roman baths we see in many cities. The fact that the bath was built in a location close to the sea also shows the importance given to cleanliness. On the opposite side of the Roman bath, you can also see the public toilets, the floors of which are paved with mosaic stones. The branches of the pine trees hanging over the road also accompany a magnificent view.
Güney limanı ile Askeri liman arasında bir nevi köprü vaziyeti gören sütunlu caddeden de bahsedeyim. Kentin iki limanı arasında yer alan bu yapı taşında yürürken sağında ve solunda Roma döneminde ait kalıntılara rastlıyorsunuz. Bu kalıntılar arasında Roma Hamamı bulunmaktadır. Bir çok kentte gördüğümüz Roma hamamlarına çok benziyor. Hamamın denize yakın olan bir konumda yapılmış olması da temizliğe gösterilen önemi de göstermektedir. Roma hamamının karşı tarafında da tabanları mozaik taşlarla döşenmiş olan umumi tuvaletleri de görebilirsiniz. Yola sarkan çam ağaçlarının dalları da muhteşem bir manzaraya eşlik ediyor.
While walking on this road, which is a wide and long street, you see an ancient Theater sign before crossing to the South port. Here, you can take a look at the large wooden promotional sign that shows the sketch of the city of Phaselis and gives information.
Geniş ve uzun bir cadde olan bu yolda yürürken, Güney limana geçmeden önce, antik bir Tiyatro tabelasını görüyorsunuz. Burada Phaselis şehrinin krokisini gösteren ve bilgi veren büyük ahşaptan yapılmış tanıtım tabelasını da göz gezdirebilirsiniz.
To get to the Ancient Theatre, you have to climb a steep staircase made of wood. After you pass this staircase, a magnificent-looking ancient theater, which also belongs to the Romans, welcomes you. The difference of this theater from other theaters is that it has survived to the present day without any damage. The theater was built on a beautiful spot due to its location. Although the proscenium is slightly damaged, it is the strongest of the building blocks. There are cavities between the walls with 5 doors on the first floor of the two-storey theater. Among these cavities, probably statues of statesmen or important people may have been made.
Antik Tiyatroya çıkmak için geniş ahşaptan yapılan yokuşlu bir merdivenler çıkmanız gerekiyor. Bu merdiveni aştıktan sonra sizi yine Romalılara ait olan muhteşem görünümlü bir antik tiyatro karşılıyor. Bu tiyatronun diğer tiyatrolardan farkı, hiç hasar görmeden günümüze kadar gelmiş olmasıdır. Tiyatro konumu itibariyle güzel bir noktaya inşa edilmiştir. Her ne kadar sahne önü biraz hasar görmüş olsa da yapı taşları arasında en sağlam olanıdır. İki katlı olan tiyatronun birinci katında 5 kapılı duvarların arasında oyuklar vardır. Bu oyukların arasında büyük ihtimalle devlet adamlarının ya da önemli sayılan kişilerin heykelleri yapılmış da olabilir.
The city gets very busy and crowded in the summer months. You may have trouble parking your vehicle. There is a small-scale business in Antin. It is impossible to find everything you are looking for here. Therefore, it will be more beneficial for you to come here by determining your needs.
