Good day community

The autonomous community of Galicia has two provinces that border the rest of the country, these are Lugo and Ourense in the southeastern part of this community. One of the main entrances to the Galician mountain range from the interior is the province of Ourense and on this occasion I went to its capital of the same name. Entering from Castilla y León through Zamora, characterized by being an area of large plains, I began to enter a mountainous area, called the Galician massif, which characterizes it. I passed through several tunnels and at the exit I could see the signs that welcome me to this northwestern part of the country. The descent towards the valley formed by the important Miño River took me to the capital of the province. One of its main tributaries, the Sil River, which supplies the main river with its waters, contributed in a remote time to one of the characteristics of colonization and development since in Roman times its important gold deposits were known and exploited by them. The name Orense, later Ourense, comes from this peculiarity since it comes from Auria, gold, and was renamed Auriense, currently Ourense.

La comunidad autónoma de Galicia tiene dos provincias que limitan con el resto del país, estas son Lugo y Ourense en la parte sureste de esta comunidad. Una de las entradas principales al macizo montañosos galaico por en interior es la provincia de Ourense y en esta ocasión me dirigí a su capital del mismo nombre. Al entrar desde Castilla y León por Zamora caracterizada por ser una zona de grandes llanuras empecé entrar en una zona montañosa, denominada macizo galaico, que la caracteriza. Pase varios túneles y en la salida pude ver los carteles que dan la bienvenida a esta parte noroeste del país. La bajada hacia el valle que forma el importante río Miño me llevo a la capital de la provincia. Uno de sus principales afluentes, el río Sil, que nutre de con sus aguas al principal aporto en un tiempo remoto una de las características de la colonización y desarrollo ya que en tiempo de los romanos sus importantes yacimientos de oro eran conocidos y explotados por estos. El nombre de Orense, después Ourense procede de esta peculiaridad ya que viene de Auria, oro, pasándose a denominar Auriense, actualmente Ourense.

The main characteristics of this historic city are its bridges, its cathedral and its thermal baths, as well as an old historic centre made of strong granite, unique buildings with their windows and galleries to take advantage of the natural light and its small and secluded main square. I began to observe the typical architecture of this region, which, as in many parts of the country, has very specific and unique characteristics. Both in its modern and old parts, this way of building or constructing is fused, coexists, blends in and is respected throughout the city. Its so-called Roman bridge preserves only one of its original arches, as the successive floods and floods of the Miño River, as well as conflicts, led to its destruction on several occasions, and today it is an amalgam of styles in its successive restorations. The well-kept area and the walk along both banks of the river are another attraction and an escape point for many people who live there. From this area I headed to the city centre where life and some surprises awaited me on this trip. I extended an invitation to visit its wonderful cathedral that has mixed different styles from Romanesque to Neoclassical, dedicated to San Martin, the city's patron saint.

La principal característica de esta histórica ciudad son sus puentes, su catedral y sus termas además de un núcleo de casco histórico antiguo de recio granito, edificios singulares con sus acristalamientos y galerías para aprovechar la luz natural y su pequeña y recogida plaza mayor. Empecé a observar la típica arquitectura de esta región que, como en muchas partes del país, presenta características muy concretas y singulares. Tanto en su parte moderna como en la antigua esa forma de edificar o construir están fusionadas, conviven, se mimetizan y respetan en toda la ciudad. Su puente llamado romano conserva solo uno de sus arcos originales ya que las sucesivas riadas y crecidas del río Miño así como conflictos llevo en varias ocasiones a su destrucción siendo hoy una amalgama de estilos en sus sucesivas restauraciones. Lo bien cuidado de la zona y el paseo por ambos márgenes del río son otro de los atractivos y punto de escape de muchas personas que residen en ella. Desde esta zona me dirigí al centro de la ciudad donde me esperaba su vida y algunas sorpresas en este viaje. Extiendo una invitación a visitar su maravilla de catedral que ha mezclado diferentes estilos desde el románico hasta el neoclásico dedicada a San Martin, patrón de la ciudad.

As I wandered around I was immersed in the life of its main central streets, a more economical area where many shops, banks, and cafes have their premises. A small tourist train runs through part of the city and from its departure in the main square to its final route takes us to the most emblematic and beautiful points of the city. On this short trip I was able to visit the Termas de la Chavasqueira on the riverbank, characterized by its thermal waters and its many hot water pools. The variety I found walking through these streets showed me that it is a modern and cosmopolitan city. I stayed in one of the emblematic buildings of the capital, part hotel and part residence, the so-called Torre, San Martín hotel. The accommodation in this beautiful hotel and its views of the entire city from above captivated my senses. The gastronomy is also something worth highlighting in this report, the quality of the food and its variety is always a standard in the autonomous community of Galicia.

Al callejear me empape con la vida de sus principales calles céntricas, zona más económica donde muchos comercios, bancos, cafeterías tienes sus locales. Un pequeño tren turístico recorre parte de la ciudad y desde su salida en la plaza mayor hasta su recorrido final nos lleva a los puntos más emblemáticos y bellos de la ciudad. En este pequeño viaje he podido visitar las Termas de la Chavasqueira en el margen del río caracterizado por sus aguas termales y sus múltiples piscinas de aguas calientes. La variedad que encontré paseando por estas calles me demostraba que es una ciudad moderna y cosmopolita. Me aloje en uno de los edificios emblemáticos de la capital, por un lado Hotel y por otro residencia, la llamada Torre, hotel San Martín. El alojamiento en este precioso hotel y sus vistas a toda la ciudad desde las alturas enamoro mis sentidos. La gastronomía es algo también a remarcar en este reportaje, la calidad de la comida y su variedad es siempre bandera en la comunidad autónoma de Galicia.

To finish this report that I present to you today, I would like to tell you that I am very excited about this fantastic #worldmappin project since it reminds me of a good part of my childhood and youth. In my family we had a map of Europe on a board as a picture in which we would pin colored pins according to the routes and places where we went, that is why I am excited about this new project that has brought back memories and in which I see a great projection for our work. Para finalizar este reportaje que hoy os presento quisiera deciros que estoy muy ilusionado con este fantástico proyecto de #worldmappin ya que me hace recordar una buena parte de mi infancia y juventud. En mi familia teníamos un mapa de Europa en un tablero a modo de cuadro en el cual íbamos pinchando chinchetas de colores según las rutas y sitios a dónde íbamos, es por eso el motivo de esta nueva ilusión con este proyecto que me ha traído recuerdos y en el cual veo una gran proyección para nuestros trabajos.
