Welcome back to our post. after previously we visited the Maimoon Palace cultural heritage, now we will visit another historical site, namely the Al Mashun Grand Mosque in Medan.
The Al Mashun Grand Mosque was built in 1906 and was only completed in 1909. This Grand Mosque was originally built together with the Maimoon Palace area, but we don't know when, what is clear for now is that the Al Mashun Grand Mosque is no longer in the same area as the Maimoon Palace, even though the location of this mosque is close to the Maimoon Palace.
Al Mashun Grand Mosque The address is at Jalan Sisingamangaraja No. 61, Medan. And if you enter the mosque area, you will see that the architectural style of the mosque is widely adapted from Spain and Mughals and India, and there are very thick deli Malay accents in this mosque. The area of the Al Mahsun Grand Mosque is about 5000 square meters and it was built with an area of 18,000 square meters.
The facilities available at the Medan Grand Mosque are:
1. Slipper storage
When entering the mosque, you are required to leave your sandals or shoes in the slipper care provided by the Mosque Prosperity Agency. You will be given a ticket to leave your sandals and shoes.
2. Public toilet
In this area there are also many toilets with abundant, clean and fragrant water
3. Lodging
Because this mosque is in the center of Medan city, this mosque is surrounded by supermarkets and the famous hotel there, namely Hotel Madani, this hotel is right in front of the Medan Grand Mosque, and the architecture of Hoel itself also resembles a mosque.
4. Crossing Bridge
The pedestrian bridge is next to the mosque, and the architecture of this pedestrian bridge is still adapting the architecture of the Medan Grand Mosque.
When going to visit this place, you must dress modestly and must wear a scarf for women. And for those who bring vehicles, you can park in front of the gate, and around this parking lot there are also food stalls to pamper your stomach.
And right in the courtyard of the mosque you can find the tombs of the Kings of the Deli Malay Sultanate and the closest relatives of other royal families.
The mosque administrator who was there explained that there were about five king tombs buried here, namely :
1. Tuanku Raja Panglima Pasutan (King of Deli IV)
2. Tuanku Panglima Gandar Wahid (King of Deli V)
3. King Sultan Amaluddin Perkasa Alam (King of Deli VI)
4. Sultan Osman Perkasa Alam (Raja Deli VII)
5. Sultan Mahmud Perkasa Alam (Raja Deli VIII)
In addition to religious tourism for Muslims, this mosque building also makes you aware of the history in the city of Medan which we must preserve and of course keep these historical sites clean so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy them later.
What do you think, don't forget to visit these historical sites if you will visit the city of Medan, see you healthy always for you. And don't forget to continue to support us. thank you
