Ko Phi Phi - a trampled paradise
Ko Phi Phi - zadeptany raj
While traveling around Thailand, I heard different opinions about the island of Ko Phi Phi and many people were not delighted with what they found there. Lots of tourists, terrible commerce, constant parties - and that's all true. Unfortunately, globalization, commercialization and a huge desire for profits caused this place to die out due to the uncontrolled influx of tourists.
Dużo turystów, straszna komercja, ciągłe imprezy - i to wszystko prawda. Niestety globalizacja, komercjalizacja i ogromna chęć zysków spowodowała, że to miejsce obumiera poprzez niekontrolowany napływ turystów.
For example, I will give you that the nearby Andaman Islands, belonging to India and having one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, have introduced a reduction in the number of tourists in order to save the natural environment.
Commercial, noise and garbage
Komercja, hałas i śmieci
Once upon a time, several wooden boats, often still rowing boats, used to come to Ko Phi Phi. Today, the area is drained by motor boats with loud engines, fast chasers and hundreds of tourists, who, attracted by photos of empty beaches tweaked in the graphic program, crash into unpleasant reality - trampled beaches, rubbish, noise, lots of other tourists. There is simply nowhere to go.
Kiedyś, na Ko Phi Phi przypływało kilka drewnianych łodzi, często jeszcze wiosłowych. Dzisiaj drenują teren łodzie motorowe o głośnych silnikach, szybkie ścigacze i setki turystów, którzy zwabieni podkręconymi w programie graficznym zdjęciami pustych plaż, rozbijają się o przykra rzeczywistość - rozdeptane plaże, śmieci, hałas, mnóstwo innych turystów. Nie ma się po prostu gdzie podziać.
But...
Ale...
If you do not mind 40 degrees heat, lying in the sun on a crowded beach, parties and noise until the morning or crowds of drunk tourists - this place is worth recommending. Of course, there is a lot of exaggeration in this, because it is so in many places in the world.
Ko Phi Phi from the drone's eye
Ko Phi Phi okiem drona
The islands, however, defend themselves with beautiful, unique views (maybe Palawan Island in the Philippines has better ones), but all their charm can be appreciated by looking at the shots from the drone.
Thailand's Ko Phi Phi Islands look wonderful when viewed from a drone's eye. Perfectly turquoise or blue sea. Ko Phi Phi Islands are also a very attractive place in terms of nature and geography.
Diving, snorkeling on Ko Phi Phi
Nurkowanie, snurkowanie na Ko Phi Phi
Many people say that diving in Phi Phi or other islands is a great attraction. Unfortunately, I have a different opinion, I prefer to look at the fish in the aquarium, it will be much cheaper. The dive sites are average if not poor, the reef is dilapidated and poor. I've already dived in many places around the world and so far nothing beats the island of Sipidan in Borneo. Well, well - when someone sees fish underwater for the first time, they are charmed, and you will not convince them that it is a waste of money.
Leonardo Di Caprio as a decoy
Leonardo Di Caprio jako wabik
It was on the Ko Phi Phi Archipelago, on the most popular islands of Thailand, where scenes for the movie "Heavenly Beach" with Leonardo Di Caprio in the lead role were filmed. Of course, this is a lure for tourists, because the movie was shot in a completely different location, namely on the island of Phi Phi Le, which is a national park without a tourist base. You can visit it only by purchasing a boat or boat trip.
Tsunami 2004
Tsunami 2004
The islands also experienced their great tragedy. In 2004, a gigantic tsunami affected many countries around the world, mainly in Southeast Asia. More than 800 people were killed then, and over 1,000 were reported missing. The islands were almost razed to the ground. Due to the lack of adequate resources, the tourist infrastructure was quickly but carelessly rebuilt and made into one great place for events, with countless pubs, bars, restaurants and discos, hotels, hostels, stalls and bazaars, etc. - that is, a cash cow.
Despite all these weaknesses, the place is recommendable. Of course, young people will feel better there, and people in middle age, or families with small children, will feel much worse.
Enjoy 😉
