Buen día amigos de WorldMappin, espero que se encuentren genial. Tengo el agrado de compartirles hoy una plaza de la que me enamoré, la Plaza Mariano Boedo, en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, con recuerdos de antaño y una memoria que palpita y vive en mi.
We had gone out with the idea of drinking mate only. My friend and I had this exercise to practice a bit of photography. I already know many plazas in the city of Buenos Aires, but my friend lives very close to here, and although I had been there in the past, that day surprised us a lot.

Habíamos salido con la idea de tomar mate únicamente. Mi amigo y yo teníamos este ejercicio para practicar un poco de fotografía. Yo ya conozco muchas plazas de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, pero mi amigo vive muy cerca de aquí, y aunque yo había ido en el pasado, ese día nos sorprendió muchísimo.
It was one of the last summers that saw us living nearby, and after lunch, we went out for a walk. I took many pictures of different things: objects, lighting, people. Walking around Boedo has a superior magic. At that time I didn't use to take many pictures of a place to remember it or even share it. Although some of them are useful to accompany this post.

Fue un verano de los últimos que nos vio vivir cerca, después del almuerzo, salimos a recorrer. Junté muchas fotos de distintas cosas: objetos, iluminaciones, gente. Caminar por Boedo tiene una magia superior. En esa época no solía tomar muchas fotos de un sitio para recordarlo o compartirlo siquiera. Aunque algunas me sirven para acompañar este post.

Lo llamativo fue que al llegar a la plaza, nos alejamos de las multitudes, como siempre. Él estuvo probando mi cámara, y yo la de él. Las risas no faltaron y nos entretuvimos bastante. Nos hicimos amigos de unos perros hermosos, y la tarde fue pasando. Mirá cómo seremos los argentinos que con mate y un poco de pasto, podemos quedarnos horas sin problema, ¿no? Fieles a nuestra costumbre, allí estábamos, en un extremo de la plaza, casi ocultos. Cerca de una entrada que no usaba mucha gente. Charlamos de todo lo que no habíamos podido en meses. Siempre le digo que la ciudad es más difícil desde que se mudó a otra provincia, pero sé que su felicidad lo vale. Cada tanto le repito que me gustaría tenerlo cerca…

In the middle of our conversation, a young man chose this corner to set up his show. En medio de nuestra conversación, un joven eligió este rincón para montar su espectáculo. Tuvimos mucha suerte: un palco, un lugar privilegiado. ¡Y dos cámaras! Nos moríamos de ganas de probarlas y capturar su magia. Ambos éramos muy inexpertos en ese entonces, pero ¡tuvimos tanta suerte! Cuando terminó el show, tomó un poco de agua, descansó, y le dimos una propina. Nos dijo que si nos quedábamos otro rato, disfrutaríamos más. No pensábamos ir a ningún lado. Verano, 20hs, aún nos quedaba mucha noche por delante. Entendimos todo.

Recuerdo con claridad que al salir de allí, fuimos a cenar a una hamburguesería que nos fascinaba: muy pequeña, muy cálida. Todo en el barrio de Boedo tiene ese aire familiar, conservando costumbres. ¿Por qué les cuento esto? Por dos motivos. El primero es que en un rato emprendo un viaje a este hermoso barrio, a pasear y recorrer un poco. El segundo es que hoy es el cumpleaños de mi amigo. No encontré mejor manera de expresar mis emociones que recordando cuánto lo quiero, cuánto lo extraño y las andanzas que compartimos.
Today, as I get ready to walk around Boedo again, I think about how ephemeral and valuable are those moments that life gives us. The day to day may take us away from some people, but it leaves us the memories to keep them present. That afternoon in the square, between mates and improvised shows, was engraved in my memory as one of the most genuine, and that is why I treasure it so much. The happiness of this day cost us very little?

Hoy, mientras me preparo para recorrer Boedo otra vez, pienso en lo efímero y valioso que son esos momentos que la vida nos regala. El día a día nos podrá ir apartando de algunas personas, pero nos deja los recuerdos para mantenerlas presentes. Esa tarde en la plaza, entre mates y espectáculos improvisados, quedó grabada en mi memoria como una de las más genuinas, y por eso la atesoro tanto. La felicidad de este día nos costó muy poco…
