Dong Dinh Museum - Where To Store The Precious Items Of The Fishing Village

Hello guys! I'm back here today to introduce a new place that I just visited this afternoon. After going through the procedures to apply for admission at the Da Nang hospital, this afternoon I had a break, so I decided to take a walk around Son Tra Peninsula by motorbike after rainy days in Da Nang. I accidentally discovered a rather ancient museum located right on the way to Son Tra. I've been up here quite a few times before, but I don't seem to notice the existence of this museum, because the previous times I mainly went to the top of the road to take some pictures. Part of the reason I don't see this place anymore is because the sign for the museum is obscured by the trees in front. Because I missed many times before, today I decided to go inside to explore the museum.

First, you park your car under the gate, and buy an entrance ticket to be able to visit inside. The ticket price is 30,000VND/person, today I went with my friend so I bought two tickets. The special thing is that in this fare, you get a glass of herbal water for free. After parking and buying a ticket, you have to climb a small slope to get inside the museum. Surrounding this place is covered with a lot of green trees, so the atmosphere here is very fresh. The special thing is that standing from here you can both see the vast sea and breathe the cool air in the mountains.

After climbing up the small slope, there will be a water stall located at the entrance, you just need to go there and give the entrance ticket to the water vendor, you will receive a glass of cool herbal water in return. The taste of the glass of water is very fragrant, I really like it.

This museum area belongs to the nature museum style, it is located on a small hill of Son Tra peninsula. Everything is decorated in harmony with natural landscapes such as forests and animals. Above there is a small coffee shop located on the left hand corner, this place is like a stopover for tourists after visiting this museum. Sitting here, you can see the blue sea in the distance, take a few photos to keep as a souvenir.

The museum is divided into 6 areas with 6 different galleries. First, I visited the area of The House Of Ethnology, where there is a small bamboo house, inside which displays things people used regularly in the past, such as baskets used to store things, sharp iron tools used to split firewood and hoe. Besides, as far as I can see, the walls are hung with bizarre masks, buffalo heads, etc. In my opinion, hanging these strangely shaped masks on the walls of the house will help ward off bad luck for the family. Around this area is covered with a lot of green trees, besides, there is a small stream below the house, making the scene extremely poetic.

The second area is the Home Memory Room. This place seems to be in the process of being renovated, only a few items remain such as baskets hanging on the wall, an old bicycle hanging on the front porch. When I see this cycle, my childhood memories suddenly come back, I remember when I was in primary school, my family lived with my grandparents, every day my grandfather drove me to school with the cycle like this. Currently, my grandfather is living in the countryside, and I study and work in the city, so I have been away from him for about half a year now, I can only meet him every Tet holiday, so when I see this bicycle, it reminds me of him so much.

The third gallery house is the Antique Gallery, it is located right next to The House Of Ethnology area. Everything here is quite ancient, from the decoration of the display house to the items inside. In the gallery, there are items such as ceramic vases, porcelain cups placed in glass cabinets, tea trays on display holding the antique-style table. The outside courtyard is decorated with different types of ceramic vases, creating a very lively scene.

The fourth area is the Forest Memories House, it's next to the right hand side of the antique gallery. The house is made from small bamboo trees, the outside is painted with a blue color. Because the place was closed I couldn't go inside to explore. So let's move to the next place with me.

Son Tra is also known as monkey island, so when you come here, you will have a chance to see a lot of monkeys even on the road, it is a unique experience that you will have when coming to Da Nang. Because Dong Dinh museum is located on the mountain, seeing monkeys is not new, you can even see it up close. One thing you should keep in mind is to keep a distance from them to keep you safe because they will snatch food / drink from your hand at any time. I also captured a few moments of them while on the way to the next location.

Right behind where the monkeys are drinking water is the 5th area in this museum. That is the art gallery, it looks very vintage, it's covered with red bricks, the arched doors are in the old style. On the walls are vines clinging to create a fairy-like landscape.

The final destination is Memories of Fishing Village, it is quite far from the rest of the areas, this is a place to display items used by people when going out to sea such as fishing tools, snail shells hung in front of the doors. Inside, you will see pictures of fishing, village life hanging on the wall, besides, there is information about the fishing village, poems written on paper and placed in picture frames.

After visiting all the places, on the way back, I met a cute cat. I think people don't know, but I really like cats, my nickname Kuro means cat in Japanese. So I stopped to take a picture of the cat to keep as a souvenir. After visiting this place, it also started to get dark, so I also went back down to go home.
