Several years ago I was able to make a trip from Cumaná (my city in eastern Venezuela) to the beautiful State of Táchira, located in the west of my country, in the company of some close friends, by collective means of land transportation. Our modest economic situation did not allow us any other option, but our desire to travel was greater. Although the trip from my city to Caracas was terribly rough, after many hours of travel, we managed to reach our tourist destination, that entity I had always wanted to visit.
Hace varios años pude hacer un viaje desde Cumaná (mi ciudad, del oriente venezolano) al bello Estado Táchira, ubicado al occidente de mi país, en compañía de unos íntimos amigos, por medios colectivos de transporte terrestre. Nuestra modesta situación económica no nos permitía otra opción, pero nuestras ganas de viajar eran superiores. Aunque el viaje desde mi ciudad hasta Caracas fue terriblemente accidentado, luego de muchas horas de viaje, logramos llegar a nuestro objetivo turístico, esa entidad que siempre había querido visitar.

Compartiré con ustedes una primera entrega de mis fotos de ese viaje, y otras en un segundo post.
After the initial accidents we found ourselves, in the middle of the rain, with an image like this, which introduced us to the material context of the place, with those cattle in captivity.
And already in the capital of the entity, San Cristobal, we arrived at the beautiful inn-house that we had hired: "Posada Los Olivos", located towards the northern part of the city (which allowed us a beautiful view), where we stayed during our vacation days, being caringly attended by its owner and assistant, whom we remember with much affection.
That same day, at night, we went out to meet the miracle of life, nothing more and nothing less than discovering a sculpture of the great Venezuelan writer Rómulo Gallegos.

Luego de los accidentes iniciales nos enocntramos, en medio de la lluvia, con una imagen como esta, que nos introducía en el contexto material del lugar, con esas reses en cautiverio.
Ya en la capital de la entidad, San Cristóbal, llegamos a la hermosa posada-casa que habíamos contratado: "Posada Los Olivos", ubicada hacia la parte norte de la ciudad (lo que nos permitía una hermosa vista), donde permanecimos durante nuestros días de vacaciones, siendo atendidos esmeradamente por su dueño y asistente, que recordamos siempre con mucho cariño.
En ese mismo día, en la noche, salimos a encontrarnos con el milagro de la vida, y nada más y nada menos, hallamos una escultura del gran escritor venezolano Rómulo Gallegos.
In my case, apart from the natural landscapes, one of the reasons of interest when visiting a place, is to fix my sight on the architectural monuments, especially if it is a space of historical heritage, which, undoubtedly, is Táchira in its entirety. So, as I could, I collected images of its old Reading Room (I could not find out what happened to it) and its beautiful church known as "La Ermita"
En mi caso, aparte de los paisajes naturales, uno de los motivos de interés al visitar un lugar, es fijar mi vista en los monumentos arquitectónicos, sobre todo si se trata de un espacio de acervo histórico, lo que, indudablemente, es Táchira en su totalidad. Así, como pude, recogí imágenes de su antiguo Salón de lectura (no pude saber qué pasaba con él) y de su hermosa iglesia conocida como "La Ermita", de la que muestro su esplendor en columnas, ábsides y cúpula.
