We visited Bamburgh Castle in North East England back in August. I posted about it then, but there was so much to see that I only covered the outside in that last post. And I'm finally catching up and posting about what we saw on the inside !
Bamburgh Castle is quite interesting as the site has evolved and changed considerably over the ages and the same can be said about the internals. There is a real mix of styles, but it was mostly individual aspects and items that caught my eye while there.
It has the usual grand rooms like the one above, which is impressive.
The pic above is in the same area, but when we were there they were also having an art display of paintings of different planes from world war 2 ! One of the previous family owners had been involved in plane manufacture and they also had their own small museum to that, so there was quite a connection.
Above is a pic from the castle kitchens, and there is so much I like here ! Just look at those sinks - one long flow of lovely old sinks - and I love the copper pipework going to them, and of course the pigs head ! The windows and the frames are lovely, as is the window opening bar !
Above was one of many rooms with dining tables. In particular I love all of the red glassware in the place settings - it looks lovely !
In one room I spotted this incredible old iron radiator tucked behind a table. The design on it is just beautiful !
And just look at those plates with all the beautiful birds !
In the aircraft museum part, I loved how they had arranged the propellers above - and those are aircraft tires to the right.
Some beautiful oriental china above, and I just loved the figures incorporated into the design - very cheery !
One part of the castle had a really beautiful stairwell - and just looked at the arching on the roof above it !!
And then my absolutely fav photo from the trip is above. A box of dragon puppet heads in the castle shop ! What is the name for a collective of dragons ? Anyone ???
Anyway, we loved the visit there - and as can be seen, it was specific individual items that caught my eye on the trip. There was a huge amount to see, and its certainly a castle I'd recommend !
