During Sinulog, we had a short staycation on one of the largest condominiums here in Marigondon, Lapu-lapu City, Philippines, the Saekyung Village One. It is located in Tabay-Mabao, Marigondon Beach Rd., Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines,6015.
We stayed here on January 20-22,2024 and paid ₱2,900 on a unit we found at a famous hotel reservation website.
Saekyung Village in Marigondon, Lapu-lapu City offers rent-to-own condominiums. If you plan on renting for a short period of time, be cautious of scams on social media and booking websites. The best part about Saekyung Village is the peaceful and quiet atmosphere despite the number of people living in the condos. Additionally, each side of the condominium has its own swimming pool. There are three phases of the village - Phase One, Phase Two and Phase Three We rented unit 530 located in the 301 building of phase three. Let me take you through our unit.
We rented a fully air-conditioned studio unit with one bed, a refrigerator, a washing machine, a comfort room, and a small balcony with a lovely view. It's great that we have our own kitchen to cook in since it's quite far from restaurants and malls. We bought fresh produce and meat from a local grocery store, which we stored in our refrigerator, and cooked home-cooked meals during our short staycation. It was very convenient.
We purchased some snacks to take along for our swimming day at the pool. Having my son with me meant we needed to bring along some goodies to enjoy while we had fun. Luckily, the unit we rented has a refrigerator, making it easy to store our food and snacks.
This unit is perfect for remote work or working from home. We have access to strong and free wifi, making it easy to work from anywhere. If you're planning on working while on vacation, this is the ideal spot with its reliable wifi connection.
As someone who loves pools and beaches, my family and I wasted no time after arriving at our unit - we headed straight to the pool area. This particular pool is located in the third phase of the village, which the village has three phases, each with its own pool. Since we rented a unit in the third phase, this was the pool assigned in our area. The pool offered a beautiful view of the other condominium units in the cycling village. It was open from 8:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night, which was very convenient for us and especially great for our son who loves to swim. Overall, we had a great time in Saekyung Village.
During our staycation, my son enjoyed the playground area as much as the swimming pool. The playground is available for free to the renters and homeowners staying in the Village. Each phase has its designated playground and pool. Therefore, if you are staying in phase one, you have to go to your respective playground and pool located in phase one. Similarly, phase two and phase three have their designated playgrounds. We stayed at the phase three condominium units, so this is the designated playground area for phase three, and my son had a great time at the playground.
Also, there's a famous convenience store inside the Saekyung Village, the 7/11 that I was not able to take a photo of. It's located right beside the guard house of the Saekyung Village and it's the only convenience store in the area. If you're looking for items that are not available in 7/11, it's best to bring everything you need since the Saekyung Village is not easily accessible by taxis, and it's a bit of a walk from the main road.
If you're planning to have a short staycation here, I highly recommend that you follow what we did. We went to Gaisano Mall Basak, Lapu-lapu City, which is near Saekyung Village, and bought all the necessary items like rice, meat, and other food items to cook for our staycation.
For those who don't like to cook, you can order food online from delivery services such as Food Panda or Grab. Since the place is a little bit distant to restaurants. But if you have your own car or means of transportation, there is definitely no problem because the town of Marigondon in Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines has just so much restaurants and food stalls around their barangay.
As for transportation, taxis are not readily available within the Saekyung Village area, so you may want to consider getting a Grab taxi or booking a Maxim motorcycle taxi if you wish to go somewhere from the village and don't want to ride a jeep or tricycle.
We saved a lot during our stay because there were three of us, adults and one child. So therefore, getting a unit for ₱2900 for four days in total is not that bad.
We checked in at 1:00 PM on January 20 ,2024 Saturday and checked out at 8:00 AM on January 22,2024 Monday, which is not bad. Worth the money we paid for.
This may be our first time here, but will not be the last. I am looking forward to more staycations where these are just days that we get to chill out and relax and forget about life for some time, and I just love that the place gives me so many Korean vibes, just like what I have seen in the movies.
