As I stated in my previous posts about various discoveries from Transylvania, the single thing you need during a trip on that discretion is time. Because you can literally return over and over again and still never discover everything it has to offer.
Even though we are adventurous spirits who do enjoy outdoor explorations more than anything, back on a random day after the lockdown from March, we decided is the right moment to get some more knowledge about what our home country has been through ages ago.
Of course, our journey couldn't start just like that, so we decided to begin by exploring The Brukenthal Castle from Avrig which was also coming with a huge park, which represents the last one created in a baroque style that is still standing still since the 18th century. Over here we got to enjoy both nature and the architecture of the palace which was showing off the passage of years, but we didn't end the day right after it because we had in plan to also hit the road on the way to Făgăraș Citadel where everything seemed cleaner and well-maintained compared to our previous discovery.
The fortress offered us a bunch of feelings and emotions. From happiness to knowledge, from painful and bloody stories to very important and interesting ones, and so on. But the place that made our journey come to an end was made by the Fortified Church of Biertan where I wish we could spend a lot more time and we will return for sure. The church comes with an interesting architecture being protected by lots of powerful walls making it seem like a fortress, and there are plenty of unique elements and stories in the whole Europe and maybe the world.
The places you'll see in the video I already wrote about and you can find more about them on here:
- Castelul Brukenthal (Brukenthal Castle from Avrig)
- Cetatea Făgăraș (Făgăraș Citadel)
- Biserica Fortificată din Biertan (Fortified Church of Biertan)
All three places presented are part of the Transylvania region and in my opinion, they represent some of the best spots where you can earn some more history knowledge about the past of Romania. :)
