Attenborough Nature Reserve in Nottinghamshire is a place we've visited before, but it's always good to return. The Ratcliffe-on-Soar Power Station was in the background.

There weren’t many cars in the car park so very easy to find a parking space. Parking is cheap, only £3 for the day and footpaths are nice and wide. There was a Canada Goose in the car park with angel wing where the wing grows downwards and outwards. Even though the goose will not be able to fly, it is not life threatening. It can make them vulnerable to predators but there's safe places on the nature reserve.

Walking down to the lake, we could hear the Canada Geese being really noisy. I'm not sure why, and we couldn't see anything untoward happening.

There was a cormorant drying off its feathers in the middle of the lake.

Good to see the odd red admiral butterfly about. I haven't seen many at all this year.

You can have a message etched on to a brass leaf to remember a loved one or to celebrate a special occasion and placed on
one of their bird hides.

It is always an interesting place for a walk or a spot of bird watching. A couple of mallard ducks were chilling out on one leg. If you don't fancy any of that then you can just call in and visit the cafe.

We only did a short walk today to pick some sloe berries to make sloe gin. Most of the sloes were at the top of the tree so it was difficult to get them. We made a good start though.

Just as we were leaving a swan came into land on the water.
