Alum Chine Beach, Bournemouth, Dorset

The rain stopped briefly enough to have a quick walk on the Alum Chine Beach in Bournemouth. It wasn't as cold as I thought it would be. As it's forecast rain all week, I thought it was best to pop out while there's some respite from the rain.

Alum Chine Beach, got its name from the alum mining in the 16th century. It wasn't very economical and subsequently closed down. SourceThe beach was nice and clean and dog friendly. Sometimes the pooch was a little too friendly with passing strangers.

I really liked the beach huts. These are council owned so you can rent them while holidaying in the area. They probably cost just as much as your holiday. Some beach huts on nearby beaches are for sale, and they go for thousands of pounds. Silly money.

After throwing the ball for the pooch for a while we returned to the car before the next shower came.
