The Historic Fort San Pedro: A Past Worthy to Remember

Hello Hive Fam, welcome to another blog. For today's content we will be delving in into the rich history of one of the fortified place of the Philippines, the Fort San Pedro in Cebu City. Join me and together let's unravel the rich culture and history of El Fuerte de San Pedro.

Fort San Pedro is our second to the last stop for our museum walk tour in Cebu City. In my recent blog I already have shared to you about the University of San Carlos Museum along with its array of galleries, the Parian Monumental and Sculptural Tableau, the Jesuit's House, and the Casa Gorordo. For now let's see a different point of view of history with the historical El Fuerte de San Pedro.

The Fort San Pedro is a smaller version of Fort Santiago which is located in Intramuros or the city within walls located in the heart of the Philippines. It was built during the Spanish Colonial Period under the command of the first Governor General of the Philippines, Miguel L贸pez de Legazpi. It serves as a military defense structure, a fortified place in defense against Moro raiders and enemies.

El Fuerte de San Pedro is a triagular bastion fort with its two sides or corner facing the sea and the other one on land, of which where we can see the entrance of the fort. We can see canons installed all over at the top of the fort which is used to defense the fort from long range attacks, and nearing enemies. Each corner of the fort has its unique names: The one facing southwest is the La Concepci贸n, Ignacio de Loyola is the one facing southeast, and San Miguel, the one facing northeast.

Fort San Pedro offers a glimpse of a colonial architecture, inside the fort you can roam around and be amazed with its fine architectural design. The walls are somehow made of corals which made it able to withstand time. Up until now the structure is still spreading its beauty, which made it possible for the new generations to see it.

If you want to visit Fort San Pedro, it is located near Plaza Independencia in Cebu City. It would be easy to navigate the place if you know the places in Cebu, but if you are new in Cebu much better to have your companion or have someone familiar with the place to guide you or you can simply book a taxi or grab and they will send you directly to the location.

If you are a student that is eager to learn about Cebuano local histories, this is your sign to go to Fort San Pedro. Just present your school identification card and you will have a discount. Prepare twenty pesos ( Php. 20.00) for the entrance fee. Surely Fort San Pedro will give you a one of a kind experience you will surely miss.

That's all for today Hive Fam, I hope you've enjoyed reading. Thank you and have a nice day ahead. The museums are just waiting for your visits!馃槉
