PEDIR Museum Ancient Objects Collection : History Tour

Hello Everyone,
Today I had the opportunity to visit a local museum. This museum is called PEDIR Museum and officially opened in 2015 and was founded independently. This is my tour at the beginning of October and I chose the theme for this tour as History Tour. I think it is definitely very beneficial to visit here and can learn about stories from people in the past. Because when we are at the museum, we not only hear the story of how the people were then, but we can see for ourselves some of the old relics that have extraordinary historical value. And we can understand that history is proven by the existence of authentic evidence.

I am very grateful to be able to chat with the owner of this museum so that in addition to knowing the science of history, I can of course understand the process of developing the museum. Currently, the PEDIR Museum has a very large collection of objects, and each century is different. Collecting old objects is not easy because today they are very rare and have even been damaged several centuries ago. So the process of collecting these ancient items takes up to several years and even then it is still missing. According to the owner of this museum, he is really very concerned about ancient items originating from Aceh and then being sold by the public abroad. We understand that this must be prevented in order to save a very valuable artifact.

PEDIR Museum collection

The PEDIR Museum has approximately 5,800 collections of ancient objects currently in the data, and 462 are collections of ancient manuscripts or manuscripts. All collections contained in the PEDIR museum are ancient Aceh artifacts. I'm so interested in all these artifacts because it's really important to learn about the stories of the ancestors and then be able to relate to the present. PEDIR Museum also has a collection of ancient coins from the 12th to the 19th century with different motifs and sizes.

Some of the ancient objects owned by the PEDIR museum such as jewelry, textiles, archaeological objects, weapons, sultanate archives, ethnographic objects, and many more are of course very important to understand. And the oldest collection in the museum is a coin belonging to Caliph Al-Ma'mun from the Abbasid state and on the coin is the year 202 Hijri. So I conclude that the History Tour is really useful because it is a real education.

The PEDIR Museum is located in Banda Aceh City and is currently still in the same building as the Mapesa office. If you are interested in visiting, you can search for the address on Google Maps or directly visit Punge Blang Cut-Banda Aceh and it is now open to the public. I can show some items from the PEDIR Museum collection as follows.
