My Christmas trip to Suối Lương - A hidden gem of Da Nang city

Hello Hivers around the world <3

This Christmas, I had a short trip with my friends to Suoi Luong, a stream located in the foot of Hai Van mountain, which is just about 15 kilometers from the city center. Even quite closed to the city, around 20 minutes driving, Suoi Luong owns a natural environment with a peaceful atmosphere.

Visiting a natural spot in winter is an interesting experiment.
In the summer, destinations like this are always full of tourists, but in this season, we may enjoy the sound of the nature.

It was a short trip because Christmas is not a national holiday in Viet Nam, we didn't have day-off. That's why we decided to stay only 1 night in Suoi Luong.

Driving along Nguyen Tat Thanh street, a coastal road, one of the most beautiful road in Da Nang city, to get away from the hectic life.

The main gate of Suoi Luong is decorated with a huge bronze crane.
As you may know, crane is one of the symbol of Vietnamese. Crane decoration symbols are ususally found on bronze drum, which was made 4000 years ago. Vietnamese choose "Crane" as their personality because "crane" is symbolized for noble mind and purity.

Suoi Luong is already developed for tourism. It is a ecological park with full of services for guests. However, Suoi Luong still maintains their natural environment. When coming to Suoi Luong, we may immerse in the nature, but we don't feel risky or unsafe, there are a restaurant and lots of options to stay over night. Staffs of the park are everywhere, we are even able to order food and drinks when swimming in the stream in the forest.

When we came, a school was holding camping and some outdoor activities for their students on a big grass yard.

We went to Suoi Luong in a group of 20 friends, so we decided to rented a room for girls to take bath and change, most of us stayed in a big stilt house, which is quite suitable for group activities.

This is the stilt house for group activities and sleeping.
The owner of Suoi Luong told us that this is the original house of Thai people, a ethnic minority people staying in the North of Viet Nam.
He shared with us that he wanted to maintain the tradition of Viet Nam, he came to mountains where lives the ethnich minority community, learnt their culture and brough something back to Suoi Luong.
Beside "Thai", there are 3 other stilt house of "Muong", "Dao" and "Tay". They are all orgirinal house. After buying the house in the North, he disassembled each parts of the house, brough to Suoi Luong, and assembled again. That made us really impressed.

After checking in, we walked around the park to take some photos. This park is a big area, but it is quite neat and clean.

When we walked around, we were impressed by the beauty of the nature. The stream flown down from the mountain, so it was purity, with lots of fishes swimming around. There was mountains from far away, that was the afternoon, the cloud covered the top of that mountain...

Walking a little further, we went deep in the forest. That was just a small trail in the middle of the forest. The string of sunlight got through the trees, was covered by the smoke from the woodfire nearby... It was totally peaceful.

When we came back to the stilt house, it was getting dark, our dinner was almost ready. The staffs of the park set up the dinner for us at the ground floor of the house, which may cover us from the fog and rain, but we was still able to enjoy the nature.

Even at night, in the park, there were full of lights, we might wander around without any threaten.

The weather was really nice, so after dinner, we set fire in front of the house, by the side of the stream. Sitting around the fire, we played some game and talked, until midnight.
In the middle of the nature, listen to the sound of a flowing stream, the wind flowing through the forest, the insects singing, it was cold, but with the fire in the middle, and your friends around. That was a wonderful night.

In the next morning, that woke us up was not the alarm, but the birds singing and the stream flowing... And our breakfast and coffee were waiting for us.

Because of the stormy season, some trees in Suoi Luong was fallen, but the people in Suoi Luong tried to recover the park to prepare for the New year. And some more acient houses were being built by the owners, to keep the tradition of Viet Nam, with the hope that young people may learn something about the culture from here.
If you have a chance to travel Da Nang, on the way to Hai Van Pass, you should visit Suoi Luong, a hidden charm in the middle of the nature.

And this is the end of my post. Thank you for reading, and see you in my next trip <3
