Weakness [Original Poetry]

Weakness

It was that hurricane
and the earthquake between us
which divided entire generations
of ostracized people.

Mothers, fathers lay in you,
their wives and lovers
who I only put to sleep
when you were away at the front.

You were a guinea pig
for local elections,
for that little church
from the hospital yard,
for any car
who saw you reaped
on the pedestrian crossing.
