The Last Winter Poem

If you want to make the world a magical place just dump a bucket of snow on it.
Don't sprinkle it
Just blow it all over!
In no time it will all be covered in white.

It will be white by the dock, where the little ferry takes you to the market, and where we used to eat coconut cream pies in the summer with a warm cup of coffee.

At the end of the road.

Strolling through the condos, and the boats on the marina,
we see the places that keep changing
and some that remain the same.

The glint of light
The pale shadows
The path leading us on.

Bending down to grab some snow and pack it tight into a ball,
your arm swinging back and forth
The ball across the air
Exploding in dust and laughter
Like a comet against the sun.

Common places to explore
To see them for the first time
Bewitched with frozen charm
The smile that promises intimacy
To entice me with icy wiles and winter verses
Leaves me wondering at the door
If you invite me to feel caresses,
What kind of boy do you take me for?

Let's talk geophysics
Volcanoes rumbling beneath the waves
Heat vents and plate tectonics
Warm tidal pools
Stay here for a little while
Steamy
Fingers trembling in the cold
Breathing
Hearts beating in the snow.
