Means of transportation has always been of great concern to man. From the earliest of times, man has depended on animals, such as donkeys, horses, and some other strong animals. There were horse-drawn carts and coaches. However in the 19th century innovations revolutiozied transportation, it was unimaginable as at then.

In 1885 Mercedes Benz motor car produced the first automobile in the world. It wasn't officially known by that brand name: Mercedes Benz, until the 20th century, when two auto pioneers merged to form what is now known and called Mercedes Benz. As at then, it looks like a tricycle, because it has two gaint wheels at the rear, and one medium size wheel at the front.
Today Mercedes Benz, produces one of the world most elegant, luxurious, and reliable cars. The Mercedes Benz logo is the world most popular car logo.
As times goes by, precisely in the second half of 19th century, improvements on the engine were made by two Germans named: Carl Benz and Gotlieb Daimler, these two were important pioneers in the European automobile industry.
These Germans[Diamler and Maybach] continued working on improving the engines, both Germans[Daimler and Maybach] built an engine that reached 900 revolutions per minute. These Germans continued work on improving engine until late 1885, when they produced the first engine and mounted it on a bicycle. Other car manufactures followed suit, such as :
Cadillac
Rolls-Royce
Ford
Porsche
Chrysler
Peugeot, and many others.
QUITE EXPENSIVE AUTOS.
The first autos that were produced was quite expensive, and so beyond the reach of most people. With more auto manufacturers joining the auto industry, the prices of cars started being less expensive. The first auto s produced were so expensive infact beyond the reach of most people.
At the beginning of 20th century [1908], the car industry changed with the introduction of MODEL-T from the founder of ford motors [HENRY FORD]. This model was [1] less expensive. [2] Versatile, and [3] easy to maintain, even people of modest income can afford it.

With the manufacturer of less expensive autos, many people now see automobile as a necessity, not a luxury.
The auto industry has greatly improved, basically due to technological advances.
Drastic decrease in fatal accidents, because more emphasis are put on safety. Anti lock brakes allow for better control on slippery surfaces. Seat belts, air bags. The more regid structures around driver and passenger are now safety cage. All this safety measures, still needs a good and careful driver.
The autos continues to advance in safety, speed, and design.
