Hive after death – 5 Minute free write

An interesting thought came up while chatting on Discord, what will happen to my Hive account after I die? Well I think for most they will power down way before then, or possibly liquidate their funds to their family upon death. That makes the most sense and I think that will be how most people leave the chain finally if they passed away.

But in the future, what if you could train an AI chat bot based on every post and comment you have made for years on the Hive blockchain. And then upon death this bot is flipped on, and will scour the blockchain leaving “insightful” comments based on the AI’s training of yourself. If the training shows I left a lot of comments on gardening posts it will keep doing so, and behave the same way I did. Focusing on communities and tags that interested me in the past... maybe throw a random one every so often.

Like a digital immortality, or posthumous AI.

Maybe its a bad idea, it could be considered spam. But if AI is that good in another 40 or so years, just imagine dead Hive users still interacting on chain. With turing tests showing chat bots can be quite realistic, in another few decades its hard to imagine where we will be.

Its a weird thought, but one none the less.

You could set up a fund in your will and trust to keep it going for years, or even based on income from upvotes on the comments it could keep going forever. Just need a server, script and AI software running on the machine its posting from.

But this all sounds very elaborate and just a “shower thought”. But even now I know of people that used to post on Hive that are now dead, and their auto vote keeps going. Its a little strange, but taking it to the next level having your avatar continue to leave comments after your death is an interesting idea...
